TweetI know that it is a lean fish it eats mainly a vegetarian diet like algae
TweetI was just looking through MuscleAddictions thread about his wifes journey to her comp(and she looks fabulous). Anyway, I have noticed this several times in the past also, that close to competition, people seem to eat a lot of Tilapia. My question is, is there something particular about Talapia in general before competitio? Why not other choices of fish? I dont find Talpia to be the greatest choice in fish but now that is just me. I was just curious if there was a specific reason peole seem to choose that over other fish

Tweetit's cheap, low in calories, has very little taste and it is very very light. you can also do orange roughy flounder or mahi mahi but tilipia gives you more bang for the buck with very very few cals at all. another cool thing about tilapia is that you can eat a lb and it doesnt distent you belly at all now the down side to that is it doesnt hang out in your belly and keep you full. myself i am the opposite unless i am chasing a weight class. i will suffer through the fish at the start of the diet and get to the leanness that i need to be and then transition to a higher cal protein to fill back in my muscle without adding any fat on. works great but i have fish for my last meal the night prior and the morning of because it is so light

TweetNot a competitor but man do I love talapia, I'll eat a pound and feel just right(ok, maybe 2 lbs) Just recently started with mahi mahi burgers, yum. And like guns said flounder and orange roughy are delicious but much more $$$

thanks guns. talapia is oka and you are right it doesnt have much taste. Ido like orabge roughy, salmon, seabass walleye and many other kinds. Honestly I have to eat a ot of fish to really be full from it except salmon and I believe that could be due to the higher fat contnt, although it is a good fat

TweetHow do you fix it. My GF fried some with no breading and it did not taste good to me.
TweetHonestly some lemon juice, garlic, and Ms. Dash.... Let it marinade and toss it on the grill.... It's not too bad that way. The acid in the lemon juice will allow the marinade to really soak into the fish. The key to marinading anything is to make sure you have some source of acid to allow it to penetrate whatever you are cooking. Hopefully this will help you choke it down a little easier.

TweetI love the stuff. so good and so light. I wish I could afford to have it for atleast one meal a day but its more like one meal a week lol
I never meant to be better than anyone, I was just born that way. Its hard being a god amongst peasants!
TweetSam's Club is a life saver. Great prices on huge bags! That's where I get mine. I'm with you SFG I love it, especially the way I cook it as I described above. Shrimp is also another good choice for low cal/ low carb/ high protein food. Although I don't eat it as much as other lean protein because of the price, I have found the large frozen bags at Sam's are a great buy if you just need a change in the diet.

TweetI shop at costco the sams is to far but they still have good deals its still pricey. Pretty much anything out of the water is a little out of my price range and i have to watch when i eat it but i do love the stuff. I love shrimp to but thats even worse. I can put down a serious amount of sea food if i dontpay attention or portion it out i can eat it like its nothing

TweetI'll see if I can find the article, but I found one that showed how to cook cod (I found some at the local grocery that was buy one bag get the second bag free) so it tasted "close" to lobster.... Of course it wasn't lobster but cured my craving for it... Lobster is way out of price range. I'll post the site if I can find it again.

Tweetmrs dash sodium free in any flavor defrosted and tossed into the over at 350 for about 34 minutes. i like mine crispy for texture. another method for grilling or grilling on the foreman is to make a foil packet and place veges or jalepenos in there. it seals in the moisture and the flavor as well
