TweetI train solo. I let my G/F train with me sometimes, but I get a much better W/O when I'm alone with AC/DC cranking.
TweetSo, recently I started back to the gym, January actually, and my friend/roommate goes with me most of the time because he wants to get back in shape or to where he was when he got out of the Marines so I figure he would be focused and dedicated and we can push through some good w/o's together..... IT SUCKS! Life happened for me and kept me out of the gym for almost 3 years and it sucked, but the last time I was training hard I was solo and it was just me, iron, and tunes so it was easier to focus but a little hard to catch a spot when needed so I never attempted anything that was beyond me for the simple fact of avoiding injury. So, I figure paired up would be a motivator for me and there would always be a spot when it was time to shut up and man up, but my bed has just slacked the f*** off and tries changing training schedule on me almost daily so I am fixing to hit it solo again! Tough shit for him, wake boarding season is among us and I cant be on a boat on the lake looking like an overheated pastry while im single! Just wondering how many of you train solo or paired up and how it works out to your benefit?

I'm not trying to be better than anyone, I am just trying to be better than who I was yesterday.

TweetMetallica, AC/DC, some Motley Crue, you know the usual good w/o music! but lately I kicked the ear buds to the curb and just try to mainly focus on my w/o without worrying how many times the damn things fall out and take up my rest time fing with them! My ex came to the gym a few times with me but she was more of a distraction that a motivator! haha looks like im going solo again too and think im gonna be better off.... i figure if you are gonna train with me you better keep up or GTF out of the way and let me push through the w/o!

TweetI only know one person thats strong enough to spot me, so thats out the window. I wear my head phones so people wont talk to me and i can focus. lol
Tweetme too head phones or a shitty grin
Tweeti have two partners myself and i still keep my headphones in and hat pulled down. very little conversation goes on between us except when i need to make corrections. my wife is one of my partners and the other is a lady i have been training for about 2 years. i have never had an issue needing someone else to spot me because they are both more than strong enough to pull anything up that i get stuck on.

TweetI'm solo, travel too much and move around to dif gyms too much to say I can train with someone on this day at this hour. My times are always different.

TweetI have done it both ways. I like working out with a female, if she has good feminine energy and yoga pants lol...but I really think I am better off solo with head phones and hat pulled down low
TweetI trained with this new girl on monday night. She was telling me she likes to eat a lot of garlic. Gawldanmn her breath smelled like shit..It made me not want to work out with her lol
TweetFor me lifting is a cerebral thing and nothing helps me have that mind/muscle connection more than tunes blasting in my eardrums. Certain tracks give me this "tunnel vision" that no supplement has ever been able to provide.
As much as I love the idea of a gym buddy pushing me for those 2-3 extra reps when my muscles are yelling "drop those weights", but I'm finding ways to accomplish that on my own. SOLO ALL THE WAY!
Now, the one thing that has started to happen is the wife has been going with me. We don't "train together" per say, but we're both in there, and seeing the other one kicking ass is a great motivator to just keep pushing, even if you get an urge to stop/end your session.
TweetSolo for the most part, I just seem to get a lot more done when I lift on my own in terms of volume. At my old gym I would work a bit with a guy if our days matched but he's been the only one who didn't mess around and we could push each other.
At my new gym I don't tend to talk very much but one of my close friends outside of the gym goes there and when he's there it's awful, i barely get any work done because he just keeps chatting and he's hard headed and doesn't really know how to train properly so I never try to workout with him
