TweetDoes anybody else feel like they need to do more warm-up reps during winter or is it just in my head?
TweetYear round I go with 15minutes of either the treadmill or the bike to raise body temp. If it's an upper body workout then I move into arm circles, laterals, front raises, external rotations and vertical rotations as one giant set of ten reps each with 5 lb weights to get blood in the shoulders. Also first set of any exercise is light weight and 15-20 reps and then one more set with a little more weight for 15ish and then three working sets between 15-8 reps. For my lower body days I tend to warm up on the bike for 15minutes and then do two light super sets of extensions and curls to bring more blood into those areas. Again light weights and around 20 reps. Then my first movement set/rep scheme follows along the previous guidelines. I definitely feel like with age (39) I need more time to loosen up and get in my groove. I haven't seen a difference with the colder weather but I think because I am pretty thorough with my warm ups that I'm not overly effected.
