  • Renting a Car

Quick question for those of you who know this kind of stuff. If you rent a car for a week, do you have to pay for the miles you travel as well? I'm planning on driving about 600-700 miles in a week. I'll be renting the cheapest smallest car there is since it'll only be me and I'll be picking up a friend along the way.

    Thanks!

Some charge for mileage some are per day. Some are per day plus mileage. Read the fine print.

i would agree, get the insurance for the extra bucks. i rented a car to Va beach with the bros and some idiot ran into me from behind. it was an absolute nightmare with the insurnace companies. if you get the insurance and this happens, mo issue at all.

Call some companies up over the phone, and just ask the basic questions.

Many companies offer unlimited milleage, it just all depends which ocmpany, of course the price will vary as well.

Don't go pay per kilometers, because if you are planning on racking up big numbers, they will rape you at the end with very high costs.

Insurance is always an option. If you already own a car, and are insured like you should be, your insurance is or should be transferable--meaning, whatever you drive will be insured under YOUR policy.

At least those are some of the rules and regulations over here in Canada, so don't quote me for U.S. rules.

Let us know the outcome, and how you handled it.

I disagree with this. As long as you have car insurance DONT pay their over priced ins. Call your agent he will say you are covered.

Damn thanks guys! Appreciate it all!

I'll flying into a different state and renting a car to drive 4 hours to the next state over to a buddies house. Then we'll head another 5 hours to the coast for our buddies wedding. Should be fun. I haven't seen one friend in over 6 years, and the other 3.
