PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Two Rhode Island men pleaded guilty to felony charges that they participated in an international conspiracy to import and distribute anabolic steroids and prescription drugs.
Edmond Paolucci, 54, of Coventry, and Patrick Cunningham, 44, of Cranston, admitted to U.S. District Court Judge John J. McConnell Jr. on Tuesday that they took part in the scheme to repackage the illegal drugs and sell them under various names and labels to customers who placed orders on the Internet.
Much of the proceeds, at least $76,000 from the illegal sales, were laundered back to contacts in Israel.
Federal prosecutors said Paolucci and Cunningham misbranded prescription drugs, pills and injectable oil-based drugs in 650 milliliter jugs and shipped them from Israel, Turkey and Bulgaria to post office boxes in Rhode Island
