TweetAnother good article. However, I don't know if America will shift toward conservatism. I think Americans are getting tired of the two party system that only provides a lesser of two evils sort of choice. For instance, the recent election gave us a Socialist Democrat and a Democrat posing as a Republican to choose between. People that vote on principles such as myself find it difficult if not impossible to vote for someone like Romney. Of course the alternative was worse but why should we have to be put in that situation in which we choose between two different people who don't represent our best interests.
A quote from George Washington on political parties:
"The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge natural to party dissention, which in different ages & countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. The disorders & miseries, which result, gradually incline the minds of men to seek security & repose in the absolute power of an Individual: and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of Public Liberty." — George Washington, September 19, 1796
