I'm having some serious problems getting and staying motivated. Freakin Blah, man! I get up at o'dark thirty in the morning, get out of bed, get dressed, go to my car and then turn back and climb into my wrm bed. My nutrition plan is sound and the food tastes good but I'd rather eat Ben & Jerry's, pizza and drink mass quantities of pop.

Help me here.... anyone ever run into this or am I a freak from another planet???

      unbroken,

      Some q's?

      Is that normal for you?

      How long been going on?

What's your definition of "serious" , everyones is different?

      Ever happened before?

Anything else going on in life?

Are you feeling any joy in general?

Do you have some short term and long term goals you are not achieving?

Hate to be nosy, yet, best to figure the severity, because we all go through it at times, the difference maker is how long does it hang around.

      good luck

      1. No, this is not normal for me. I'm usually very focused and find it easy to stick to a training and nutrition regimen.

      2. Been this way for a few months.

      3. Serious means that nothing I try is working. I stay on the nutrition plan for two days at the most then go and chow on "normal" food for a few days.

      4. Never really happened before. Not like this anyway.

      5. Yeah, girl troubles, etc.

      6. No, haven't been happy in two years. My divorce wrecked me emotionally and financially. Haven't fully recovered from either but have learned to live with it. I've adjusted my lifestyle so no worries there.

      7. Short term goal is to lose as much bf as possible.

That's pretty much about it bro.

      unbroken,

Possibility of depression. Best talk to a doctor professional.

The rolling back into bed is not normal. Plus two years not being happy is little excessive.

Depression is normally due to low serotonin levels from being under stress for a long time. Getting the serotonin back up to normal levels will help you feel normal if this is what it is.

Food plays a big part in serotonin levels, so if you eat clean for a few days, low carb possibly not getting the chemicals to support the serotonin. thus the reason for chowing down, brain saying it wants carbs NOW.

One more Q. Do you feel okay for a few days think you're getting back to normal the old you, and then next day you wake up and you want to go back to bed? If this has happened several times like a roller coaster another indicator of possible depression.

Not trying to alarm in anyway just best to go talk to the doctor.
This is a chemical issue not a personal character issue.

I do coaching/counseling and deal with this with some clients, and have pretty decent knowledge in this area, although since not a doc can't diagnose such things. Can talk if you need to PM though.

Gotta let go of the past...it's the one aspect of life that will never change. Goals keep me motivated, woman or no woman. Eat plenty when depressed, and lift heavy. a strict diet is just another stressor you don't need right now. if you are in this for the long haul, the diet will come back around

When you mentioned being fine for a few days and then waking up and just wanting to go to bed you hit the nail on the head. I'll pm you. Thanks, bro.

I've pretty much let go of the past. It's the effects of what happened that I'm dealing with now. I need a break from reality and all responsibility for a while. Maybe I need a nice vacation to some island where all the chicks run around topless.... Now I can certainly deal with that!!!
