Lately every time I end up in the hospital they put me on the heart monitor and give me meds for potassium. Its been like 4xs that it has happend. Is that bad ?

I got an appointment on the 30th with my doctor so I can be reffered to specialists, especially since I have had family that have gotten heart attacks at the age of 36 and up.

I don't know if they are going to keep me on meds for that , but anyone have any experience with that? I want to know if its risky that I don't have enough potassium on my heart and what vitamins can I take for it and if they would help?

Seven years ago when I delivered my other daughter, I had a severe infection and critically low potassium. I had a heart rate of 156 beats per minute and they were very concerned about the low potassium levels. There was so much going on with me but the heart rate they felt was due to the low potassium. This can be serious so there should be something they can give you for it on a regular basis.

My father wasn't a very healthy man and neither were he's brothers and sisters. He had 2 brothers and 1 sister that have died under the age of 38. It runs in the family , but the good thing is that I don't drink or smoke so I hope that helps. Just thought I'd give a little of information on the family. I inherited alot of health issues from them.

My dad had a heart attack at the age of 32 and he's brothers and sisters around that age. I could give a list of all the health problems that have been passed down to me.. Some people inherit money , but unfortunately I was cursed with dads and moms issues. I am royally screwed lol. I hope they do give me some tests or potassium meds because I don't want to end up like dad , aunts, and uncles.

I'm glad you got through it and here. And I'm glad I am getting to know you.

Hi Diva. Hope things are going good tonight and youre feeling better. Its good that youre doing some research on this potassium issue. Especially because doctors dont know everything and can even give wrong advise. Not saying to ignore your doctor, but he doesnt have to have the final word on everything either. Youre smart and can figure out what options are best for you.
Sorry to hear about your families health problems. Just remember-That does not mean it is true for you! The power that made the body can heal the body.
What is happening with your heart MrzDiva? Did they do an EKG test? Is your blood pressure high? Irregular heartbeat?
OK, you know me, and I am not going to nag you, but are you eating 1-2 pounds a day of F and V?

LOL...I suppose there is a remote possibility that your body is craving and needing some nutrients, but I doubt it becaue I think those honey nut cheerios have you covered Oh, and taito chips and fries are good veggies...
Ok, serious for a second, are you taking some meds for your heart?

No not yet. But I guess that would depend on the specialist they send me to?
