TIVERTON —
A Tiverton man was arrested after Tiverton police, Massachusetts State Police and Postal Service inspectors tracked down a package containing marijuana and steroids as it was being shipped from California to his residence.
Craig P. St. Amour, 37, of 464 Hooper St., was charged with two felony counts and one misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance. Police reported seizing one bag of marijuana and 42 bottles of steroids at St. Amour’s home on June 25.
Tiverton Police Detective Daniel Martin said that state police K-9 dogs confirmed that the package contained drugs. It was shipped from Knightsen, Calif., on June 21 and received at the post office in Westport on June 23. It was addressed to another individual, Craig Correia, and transported to St. Amour’s residence via pickup truck.
According to the police report, surveillance officers saw Correia exiting the truck with the package and entering St. Amour’s house.
Martin said the Massachusetts State Police Narcotics Unit alerted Tiverton Police at 1:45 p.m. on June 25 about the delivery and requested a uniform response. Martin, along with Detective Brendan McKinnon and Patrolman Liam Black, found St. Amour at the house and detained him.
A search of the home revealed the drugs, which were seized by police. St. Amour was arrested on charges of possession, transported to the Tiverton Police Station and arraigned. Bail was set at $10,000.
