TweetThere are many people in the United States who are overweight. Every day, more and more people join some sort of diet plan in an effort to drop the weight and get healthier. Even when they are trying, a lot of people find that their weight simply will not change. Even worse, it might actually increase. No matter how much effort they put in, something seems to be blocking them from losing the amount of weight they want to lose.
The truth of the matter is that for many people, what is keeping them from losing weight are substances - such as high fructose - that are hidden in the foods that they eat. Much of the food people who are dieting eat is tailored towards those who want to lose weight, and it often contains such substances. These hidden ingredients are designed by nature to keep weight on and companies do not disclose which of their products have these ingredients.
High fructose is best known as high fructose corn syrup. It is a highly processed sweetener and, according to nutritionists, the major contributor in the obesity crisis in America. It is not absorbed by the body in the same way that a natural sweetener would be. Instead, it causes the brain function and insulin secretion by the pancreas to be disoriented. The liver is forced to push more fat out into the blood stream, increasing the triglyceride levels and causing high cholesterol. The body is tricked into wanting to eat more even while it stores more fat. The hidden high fructose corn syrup in foods is one of the main factors that contributes to Type-II adult onset diabetes. It can even cause the immune system to not work properly. So why is it used? It's cheap to produce and makes people want more.
High fructose corn syrup is in many processed, packaged foods. You'll find it in sodas - including diet sodas - candy bars, lunch meats, breakfast cereals, snacks, breads, yogurt, soups, spaghetti sauce, and condiments. The average adult has about 12 teaspoons of it every day with teenagers often eating 80 percent more than adults. Fruit-flavored drinks that many people give their children have high amounts of the sweetener. There is no redeeming factor to high fructose corn syrup. It has no nutritional value and actually leeches micronutrients out of the body. Most people have no idea and so they eat it and their children eat it without a second thought.
It is vital if you want to have a healthy lifestyle and maintain a healthy weight that you avoid high fructose corn syrup in your foods. Always read the package labels of the foods and drinks you consume and avoid the ones that contain high fructose. Reduce or cut out soft drinks and fruit-flavored drinks. Buy fresh fruits and vegetables and try to avoid as much processed foods as possible. You will greatly reduce your risk of obesity, diabetes, and heart disease if you simply change your diet to exclude high fructose corn syrup.
