Decided to compete in PL
TweetSo I have decided that I want to compete in a power lifting meet....at least one. My trainer is doing one in Myrtle Beach in January to try and break some records, so I am thinking that is the one I will do. The rooms for the competitors are only 40.00 a night too, so you can't really beat that for Myrtle Beach.
I have been told that (contrary to my belief) I am rather strong for my size. I used to think I was very weak but working with some elite lifters the past few months has really given me HUGE confidence! So that is my goal right now. I may end up competing in one a little closer to home but right now, that's the one I am shooting for.
Also, I know the two kind of contradict each other, but I am also continuing on with my goal of getting below 10%BF. So far my strength has been going up like crazy even though I am on a calorie deficit. I figure by the time the meet gets here, I'll be somewhere close to the 165lb class. It's hard to tell at this point because I don't know where I will end up weight wise once I get to my desired BF.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

Tweetgreat goals man. go in there in kick some ass. i know a couple guys that may be doing that meet as well but they are all close to or over 300lb guys

good luck my brother! i have mad respect for powerlifters!!! i used to work with a guy that was 165 and he was (still is) pound for pound the strongest guy i've ever met and had the pleasure of working with! this may have nothing to do with the thread but oh well. he would squat 3+plates on each side for reps, then go directly to benching 3+plates on each side for reps and wouldn't even be close to being out of breath!!!! if i didn't see with my own eyes i wouldn't have believed it!
bottom line, there is no limit to what you can do! kick some ass in this competition and keep us posted! GOOD LUCK TO YOU BRO!
