  • Can somebody please explain to me:

    hey bros,

I am a little naive over here. Can somebody please explain to me, what business would a strength and conditioning coach have on bodybuilding?

I am looking more for what a strength and conditioning coach will have to say about what we do, in comparison to what HE/SHE may have studied.

I was training one of my clients on how to hit top rear deltoid/upper lat connectors...so that when she is on stage posing side ways, her rear delt would pop right out.
But I guess she bumped into a SCSC at another gym, and the guy told her that some of the work I was doing on her was wrong.
Well I thought: hwo heavy is he? probably some tooth pick who weights 140 soak and wet, yet has a lot to say about others training approach.

    Thank you

Most of the ones I've come across are your "crossfit" type people. They usually work on practical lifts more then aesthetics.

Re: Can somebody please explain to me:

A strength and conditioning coach will approach a movement as to improve some kind of function in a sport. They could care less about feeling the muscle work, working to improve its appearence asthecially in size, or the mind muscle connection we try so hard to connect with. All they care about is repetitiveness leading to it being a natural reaction. So when the time comes for that movement to be used, its a faster reaction with mich more push or pull behind it. For many of them, their frame of mind is bigger, faster, stronger. Almost similar to what BB's think, but maybe slower instead of faster.

Both have an on and off season type of training, but again the approach to keep strength optimal or improve during these seasons differ. Most strength and conditioning coaches I have met are your basic meat head, just big bastards. My strength and conditioning coach in college was dumb as rocks, but he knew anything and everything when it came to football, and sport specific lifts and techniques...
