TweetI'm gonna be out for awhile so know that I wont respond immediatly.
TweetMy sister is determined to try fat burners. The problem lies in the fact that she had/has graves disease so her thyroid was killed with radiation. She takes meds everyday that mimic the function so I dont think she should touch any of them. Now shes bullheaded and stuborn which are the same but thats another discusion. I think she should just take a bit more of her thyroid med but I have not yet disclosed this to her. What do you think? Is T3 a solutution since her thyroid doesnt funcion anyway?
Dont be afraid to think out loud on this one.

TweetOh my god you guys did not just kill this thread... I said to think outloud but this is not what I had in mind. We all know we dont know exactly what to do. I am looking for thought for me, not my sister. Dont worry nobody is going to kick your door in and serve you with papers for talking about this![]()

TweetIt is not "messed up", It is gone. There is nothing there.
I'm not upset by any means that you dont want to get involved in the topic.
Unfortunatley there is really nothing on the web that sheds a whole lot of light on this subject and it intrigues me because Its family. hopefully I can find something.
TweetI would think upping the t3 would be a decent solution. It would be akin to taking a shot of testosteron if your body was unable to make any.
But then I don't really give a shit what doctors say, since half the time they speak out of ignorance, half the time they speak out of politics, and the other half the time (for those counting, that's 3 halves, lol) they actually know something.
My guess is that if you/her go get 'professional' advice, you will be told to watch your fat intake and exercise more. Oh goody.
My only email is

TweetThis is exactly what is happening. The doctors I have spoken with wont touch the subject. Even the 'specialists' and my brother is a doctor! Doctors can be so amazingly uptight sometimes. I understand and then I dont, sometimes I think its from not knowing but the dont want to look like they dont know so they steer claer of the subject.Originally posted by TxLonghorn

She is taking Synthroid which mimics the thyroid function so I am wondering if she could slowly up her dosage of this. This was my first thought and then I thought of T3.
TweetI'd be very cautious in this situation, but is she dieting and exercising properly? Maybe put her on a prgram for 8 weeks, and if she doesnt see okay results, then maybe up the t3 dose.
I eat at least 6 times a day to build my body
I pray at least 6 times a day to build my soul
TweetWhat are your thoughts on just slowly ramping up the synthroid? Increase your thyroid and you lose weight, synthroid is her thyroid for all intent and purposes.
She will get T3 and T4 levels checked each week at a local clinic.
TweetIf you ramp up her medication on the side, wont they see this, and lower the prescribed dosage?

TweetKeep using the same prescribed dosage so insurance doesnt know but slowly increase percentage of synthroid buy buying it outright. She can get more of it.
