If you are on a diet and lose too much water, most likely because of a too low salt level, and it gives you some serious cramps and you want to supplement with salt (for the record: I’m already supplementing with everything else) than is sodium bicarbonate a decent option? In other words, is it equal to lets say ordinary kitchen salt for this purpose?

Reason I'm asking, is the because NaHCO3 doesn't taste as salty (I can pour 8 grams in 0.5 liters of waters, try that with NaCl and you'll puke y'r guts out. Second, NaHCO3 has the extra advantage of buffering lactic acid.
