I passed the *****. got my results and certificate in the mail a week or so ago.

I wasn't very difficult, but then again I studied a little bit and I already have a B.A. degree. I learned a shit load of info that is very practical for my job. Also my company paid for it, which is a huge bonus.

Im taking my EMT-B right now and Im about 4 weeks into a 16 week class.

Im thinking about eventually becoming a trainer at a gym when i cant physically do my job anymore.

how many guys on here are personal trainers?

      Great news on the cert!
It's a damn fine one too.

I was a trainer for about half a day until they moved me into PT sales, then PT director etc.

I have thought about getting a cert simply to have a foot in the door if I wanted to go back to training or doing it part time.

      How technical was the test?
A lot of training knowledge or more anatomy and science?

Why would you want to leave the job you have now for a personal training job.

the test has a break down on the nsca web site but it was a little anatomy and physiology and a shit load on application of exercise science, with some nutrition, and some special populations. It wasnt that hard though. I might take the CSCS after my EMT class is done.

cant do this one forever. its way too hard on the body. It dont want to be 30 something and still busting 8 mile soft sand runs& 2 hour pt's. The swimming and lifting is no problem. Its also contract work so basically we are never gonna get more money and every 3 years I have to worry about my job security. They usually go to the lowest bidder which would mean pay decrease or at will employment. Im also thinking about getting the out of the cold.

NSCA is one of the best certs out there. I took the CSCS test a long time ago and let that sucker expire because I wasnt training people much anymore. Now I would like to have it. I called NSCA and they told me I would have to take the test again because I let it expire..crap..Oh well, I guess it wont hurt to take it again..It was a pretty challenging test from what I recall but I passed it, so hope I will again..lol...overall, I think certs are a bit over-rated because a lot of the best trainers I know dont have a cert at all. It is a good thing to be certified though.

yeah the cscs is much more difficult with the Olympic lifts but you dont have all the bullshit about training old people or pregnant women. You need to do continuing education units to keep your cert. Its a great way for the NSCA to make money off you. you have like 4 years to get 6 credits or they expire.

I know. I still cant believe I let it expire..I can remember how much $$ it was to keep..but as soon as it lapses for a year, you have to take it again..How much is it going to cost me to take that sucker? If they have a test in my state. I flew to san jose and took my cscs test at san jose university..I aint flying anywhere to take it this time. Yeah, the NSCA makes money off that stuff, no doubt. You can spend a fortune on study materials too. I just need the book this time.
