Re: GOOGLE ADSENSE
here's a few pointers
1. make your URL's seo friendly. For example, this thread URL should read http://www.fitnessgeared.com/google-adsense.html
2. create a sitemap and submit to google. http://www.google.com/webmasters/
3. Link back, link back and more link back. Getting other sites to like to you gives you relevancy.
4. anchor text keywords - fitness geared for example, you own this keyword on google. if you type this keyword in, you come up first. make a list of keywords that you want your site to come up for. fitness diets, fitness workouts, fitness forums are good keywords to optimize the site for. Use these keyword with rule number 3, link backs.
5. Blog post and website reviews. Find 'fitness' related blogs to write a review about your site. Use your keywords from number 4, to create text anchors and link backs in the reviews.
Your efforts should go on getting your site listed on google, yahoo and msn. organic traffic is better for your site and cost you nothing. Pay per click will cost you more, but is more targetted. Unless you're selling a specific product, I wouldn't go with PPC.
Here's a site that does vbulletin seo optimization. The other board I frequent uses them with great success. http://www.crawlability.com/vbseo/

Re: GOOGLE ADSENSE
I just took a peek at your robots.txt file. You may want someone to review these disallow directories to make sure you're not blocking the search engine spiders from crawling and indexing your site.

Re: GOOGLE ADSENSE
optimize optimize. One reason you don't want to delete too much old stuff from the site. Unless it's sensitive, or something you wouldn't want to be pulled up for in a keyword search. I would think that you have plenty of keywords and phrases within the pages and pages of real text to put you in decent placement in certain targeted searches. I guess there are 50 more sites with more targeted keywords though, so it could be tough to compete. meta tags, links (as stated above), keywords. and submit to the search engines regularly. There are people that make a living just keeping a website optimized for search engines. Then you have the pay route. Throw down for one of the top blue area spots on Google for a few weeks and your quest will be done. I think it's only something like $45k for 3 months. but seriously. Once you've got that huge member base, you don't have to work at it because you'll have so many sites linking to you, advertising with you...and their sites have the hits, and the massive, ever recipricating linking continues from there. It's just getting there though, huh.
