TweetI'm driving my Chevy silverado dave. I agree with you 100% bro. I don't think most people think about it like that unfortunately.
Tweetwell...one of the things that piss me off!
as alot of you know i'm all about domestic autosales. i dont know how many discussions we've had on the subject here, but i've posted all kinds of shyt, discarding the belief that imports are better made vehicles. now, with whats happening with the big 3, i really cant understand what goes through people heads anymore. we are truley a nation hell bent on fuking itself and its people. why? why would a country's people continue to purchase foriegn auto's while watching it's economy go down the toilet? while the big 3 struggle, on the verge of bankruptcy, audi has posted record sales and increased it's market share from 6.2% to 8.5%!!! wtf? do people NOT realize they are undermining our economic recovery? do people not understand' that by purchasing foriegn auto's they're not only fuking the big 3, they're not only fukin they're nieghbor, they are fuking themselves!!! just think of how many people are financially tied to the sales of domestic vehicles. past the obvious, (the autoworker, sales personel, service people, ect.) and think about YOU! chances are, YOU would bennifit, have bennifitted, from our automakers! when the auto industry is rocking, this nation is rocking! autoworkers, for the most part, are not "savers"!! they dont sit on their money! they buy...BUY, BUY, BUY!!! bigger houses (mortgage lenders, appraisers, insurance companies, realestate people), boats (marina's, boat manufactures and the manufacture's of all the shyt that goes with boating), go on vacation (travel agents, hotels, airlines ant teir employee's). they want to build decks, paint the house, finish the basement, spend, SPEND, SPEND!!!! THATS WHAT THEY DO!!! talk about a stimulus package! we got autowrkers here on fg...tell me i'm wrong! tell me i dont have to be pissed about this, becouse i'm mistakin!
wtf is wrong with people.....how can you not understand? what foriegn car could be SOOOO GREAT, that you'd actually throw your own job security, your own country's economy, in the toilet for?
ya know? you always hear about patriotism from americans...everyones SOOOO patriotic!! red, white and blue baby..."GO RED, WHITE AND BLUE, YEAH!!!! WOOWHOO!!!"
"now...lets go purchase that audi we looked at honey"....patriots. thanks anyway

TweetNot to worry, Osama will fix it, Protectionism will be there soon enough and your economy will explode If people won't be patriotic than by God the only thing left to do is force them!!
Question: when Toyota has a plant on north american soil does that not make them domestic? Theoretically the plants employ local's, dealer ship's etc. etc. will all be local.. So if i don't buy the better made Toyota doesn't that mean that i'm now no longer supporting the local economy??
Tweetwell there's one prob! i dont feeling like going through all the post's i made regarding the many, MANY recalls on toyota's that never seem to garner the attention that the domestic recalls do...they are NOT better. as they increased in sales and productivity through the years, so has there problems increased. i've proved this MANY times with other members here. i def. see your point, and it's a shame that it got that far before someone cared to ask. me personaly, i concider them import. if domestics would get the market share back, and toyota went back home with their tails between there legs, i'm sure the domestic manufacture's would be more than happy to employ those folks!
quality....it seems to be the only jusification that a foriegn manufacturing auto buyer can bring to the table and believe they have a valed point. most new car owners own their vehicles for 3years or less. what plethera of problems have any of the domestic automakers had/have in their vehicles witch would make you fear it wouldnt last 3 years!!!
it's not even close to a valed argument and, as i've said, with a little research you will find that, THAT was a mind set of people from a period long gone. i'd say, over the last 10years, or more, the domestic manufactures have built EVERY BIT as good of a auto, if not better, than the foriegn manufactures. look at mercedes...once the example of quality...it has been one of the biggest pieces of shyt on the market for the past few years

TweetIt's a Branding Issue, Dave.
For 30 years here is what we HEAR OVER AND OVER AND OVER
a. in the 80's for ten years you had chrysler bankruptcy, and constant fights between union and detroit
b. this created an atmosphere in the 1990's where for good or bad, for ten years folks constantly heard FOREIGN BETTER THAN DOMESTIC
c. the facts in the last 8 years, detroit builds greatness, yet, they have a bad rep, and again we have had constant union and detroit fighting, constantly, ie, two big issues of bad press cannot overcome the below the surface issue of great cars
d. we are in a historic climax moment
bad press for years + oil spike + financial aramageddon worlwide = mess
Legacy Costs that foreign makers don't have just make detroit a greater risk for lenders to allow them too have money, it makes it doubley hard for them to constantly have to battle up this hill while trying to improve there own core business................
Tweeti understand it's a mind set....still pisses me off. with the power of all the information sitting at a persons fingertips, why would they NOT use it? as a person sits on their ass, looking at the world around them, how could it not dawn on them, what a problem they are helping to feed. from 1990 to 2008 the ford f150 has had 9 recalls. from the inception of the toyota tundra to 2008...they've had 29. quality?....naaaa. people are fuked up

Tweetit's not how people think
that is why BRANDING is so important
brands allow folks to digest less knowledge and make easier decisions
the constant union problems that get's front page and headline news on news shows just REINFORCES a perception and makes it deeper
TweetJust for the record, i drive a f-250 crewcab, heavy half. I'm a logger so 90% of my driveing is done on some pretty rough roads and it stands up to the test. Ford is all i have ever owned, from the 150 to 350, from gas to diesel, and they have never let me down.
My wife though has just bought a fully loaded Toyota Highlander hibrid.. This is car is amazeing!

TweetI have to disagree.
Most of Japanese import are american, most of them are designed and made in America, so ironic eh.
Sorry for more than 20 years the big 3, gave us shitty products, yes now there some big improvement, but while GM have some very good products, well they still have very crappy one too.
The american giants settled on their status of giant and of the biggest.
In business, there something you must understand when you want to be a leader, it is not the status but the performance that counts, toyota understood it a while ago.
also dont forget the automotive unions screwing, weird japanese and german or korean makers that are settled here dont have unions dicting them what to do, and costing them an arm and leg for every car produce.
Sorry, but for 20 years, these three giants settled for their status, we are so big, we cannot go wrong...
well dinosaurs died, and rats are still living, while the rats, honda, hyundai, toyota are showing a profit....
adjust or die, one principle of business but not applied by them
PS: Just ford most of its profits come from the 150 alone,
Why Porsche is the most profitable automaker in the world?
dinosaur thinking get you dead, dont forget, dino has a peanut brain!
sorry for being harsh
three doodoo is back! Hide your women!
Tweetand we always had american car in my house, except for two.
All ford, sorry they were all crap
from the meteor, to the cougars to the thunderbird to the escort to the topaz
my chrysler was fine for 2 years then it was a garbage on wheel, ****ing intrepid
from 96 to 2004, I had a suzuki, I change one light and the honk on it, nothing broke down, nothing, went A one all the time
I own now a chevy trailblazer and a sonata
I ****ing love the hyundai, damn it and the chevy i love my truck but everything is broken, I have to remove half of the engine to replace the battery, lot of rust on my hood after 3 years,
Now as a consumer, think would you buy a product that would give you what you want for your money, or something crappier because it is made here....
something I htought the big three were laughing at our faces, and for too long.

TweetI own a 07 Tundra and it was put together right here in Texas! I ahve driven Ford and Chevy most of my life, but Toyota went opover the top on this one so I had too buy it-
Tweetwell then...i guess we should just say fuk 'em and let them tank. with all the vehicles being built in america now by all the manufactures, it couldnt poss. fuk up our economy, huh? there'd be no bearing on our economy if they go under! shyt, with all the proffits toyota's making (what...with them being an american company and all...keeping all their proffits, design and manufacturing here) we wont need any of the big 3. i'll tell my friends and nieghbors to quit worring....toyotas gonna save them and the whole country.
i agree that the unions are an ideal past it's time. at one point there was a need...now, they are a heavy burdon on the big3.
p.s. explorer....#1 selling sportute for how long?...mustang?...i wonder if they made any proffit off either of those. but i agree that the f150 is the flag ship for proffits now. but the explorer was the main generator of $ for a long time!
