Tweeti have always used under armor and or for all of my stuff man. check out bass pro shop for closeouts and clearances, you should be able to get some pretty good deals from them.

PAIN DON'T HURT
TweetGreat suggestions, but if you go North Face, expect to pay a good penny! Now like guns said, at least around here, all those brands are on sale and marked down for end of season at places like Dicks sporting Goods, Cabelas, Sports Authority. If you have an outlet mall near you, go and check out what they have. The North face outlet by us has awesome deals. I would suggest a jacket that is down filled. You may not find one 100% filled but they are warmer and they are not real bulky. Macys also has some great sales going on now on winter stuff, but again, not sure of the stock they have in your area.
Head to Walmart and get some thermal shirts and long johns to wear under your clothes and some socks for cold weather. Best advise is to keep your head and feet warm as we know that helps keep the body warm.

Tweetcolumbia makes a good jacket, and it is 1/3 cheaper than northface. a good pair or socks go a long way in cold weather too
TweetI too like the desert. when I must go to the cold there are only a few things I know I need and name brand doesn't matter.. good socks great shoes and extra warm beanie that gets the ears. I even keep the motorcycle face shield warmer if I am stuck outdoors.. otherwise thermals will be kept on hand but as long as im moving I seem ok.. I hate the cold.
