TweetRomanian aren't bad at all- but I would lean toward the Yugo's even more then the Chinese.
TweetAnybody know the reputation of the Romanian AK?
I know the Chinese have a very good version with that slant tip, and Chinese symbol engraved in the wood. It's not all Chinese AKs, but that one model they produced.
The best have always been produced by Russia, but it makes me physically ill to think about a Soviet model because there should be one resting piecefully with the rest of my guns right now, but that's another show. I did find a Romanian model that looked very good. Brand new. priced nicely for what they're going for now-days, and it seemed compact for an AK. It was a tough looking little rifle, but I could see some visual this&thats that set it apart from the Soviet model just by looking at it. I'm just wondering if the Romanian model is actually a very good rifle, and doesn't have any kind of bad rap.

Tweetman, I can't get that Romanian AK out of my mind. It's a true wooden stock,pistol-grip, & forehand AK-47 in 7.62x39.
I just don't know when I'm gonna get the Soviet one back. It was left behind, and really is no-one's in the family, but I have most right to it. I was the only other one to shoot it, and it was basically mine for a while. It's calibered in .308. There were many Soviet models calibered in .308 as well.
Do you think that Saiga AK in .308 is a better choice than that Romanian?
It's only a matter of time before I get the Soviet AK back.
Tweet7.62 is the caliber...hence .308....the 39mm, or the 51mm is the length of it
Tweetyes sir. You can't chamber a .308/7.62x51mm in an AK that's calibered for the 7.62x39mm
Tweet...but the 7.62x39mm was designed for the AK-47, or vice-versa actually. It is the AK-47 round.

TweetI looked at a Yugoslavia underfolder this afternoon. It's the last of the one with the beefed up receiver for the grenade launcher attachment. Not that that is needed, but it will be, actually already is, worth more. It will be a quick collector's model I'm thinking, since they're not producing it with the beefed up receiver anymore. It was $100 more.
I liked it.
