And now call me crazy but if chael can get anderson on the ground he has a chance of winning.This chael has a gift if ya watch him fight Sonnen's gas tank was excellent and in other fights he has been in cardio has never been a issue. This guy one day will get the shot soon.I dont think chael can beat dan henderson but now that dan is gone hey who kows what he can do now. I like chael this guy is very humble and down to earth likes to fight .I just knew nate was going to lose I had such a gut feeling.In nates comments he just seemed to over confident and I will say this evry time if anyone thinks there over confident you will lose. Anyone can get caught anyone can have a bad night anything can happen and i'm pleased wityh chael winning.






Chael Sonnen is in the top five in MMA. That's just with his ability to trash talk. Now he's backing it up with his fighting.
Sonnen, one of the best wrestling fighters in MMA, physically mauled the very powerful Nate Marquardt on his way to a huge upset in the co-main event at UFC 109. Sonnen ate some big shots to score takedown after takedown and then brutalized Marquardt on the ground with elbows and punches to take a unanimous decision, 30-27 on all cards.
A humble Sonnen said he was hurt early and he was in survival mode for much of the fight.
"It was horrible. He hurt me very early. I was hurt from the first round. I just had to hang in there."
It didn't appear Sonnen was the one in trouble. Marquardt took roughly 12 minutes of abuse on his back. Sonnen's gas tank was excellent. He only ran into real trouble in the final two minutes of the fight, when Marquardt caught his head and slapped on a tight guillotine choke at the 1:55 mark. Sonnen has fallen victim to some bad submission losses in the past, but he wasn't about blow this one.
"It was very tight. I was counting the seconds down in my head hoping he'd let me go."
Sonnen freed his head after 22 seconds in Marquardt's grip and made it to the end of the fight.
If UFC president Dana White honors his prefight words, Sonnen gets the winner of the UFC 112 tilt between middleweight champ Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort. Sonnen has been hunting Silva verbally for two years now. If he gets Silva, the trash talk before the fight could be of epic proportions. Sonnen has said repeatedly that Silva, ranked No. 1 in the Yahoo! Sports pound-for-pound poll, is overrated.
Sonnen (25-10, 3-3 UFC) is now 10-2 at middleweight. Marquardt, who's been waiting since UFC 73 for another shot at Anderson Silva's title, has to hope someone knocks him off in his next two fights or the champ leaves the division and jumps to 205 pounds. Otherwise, he may be two years away from a shot.

TweetI don't like Sonnen really. He has talent but not Anderson Silva talent. He has very good wrestling, but the guy is far from humble. He talked like a douche in the WEC and he still talks like a douche. What did he say about Anderson..."If I get to fight him, I will give him a verbal slap to the face" or something like that. He thinks to highly of himself. I mean the guy was calling Anderson out when he was in the WEC...come on.

But to beat Nate was a huge win for him. The biggest of his career by far!

TweetChael is not for real. He is a LnP specialist. He has a good wrestling base and that is about it. He doesn't ever seem to try and finish the fight. He jus does enough on the ground to not get stood up. Yeah, he beat Nate but he won't win a title. He is not well rounded enough. Anderson will walk through him as he has everyone else.

TweetI don't like him, but that's not why I am saying this. I don't like Melvin Guillard either but that guy is really getting some awesome standup. He did do a good job to beat Nate. It does take skill to hold someone like Nate down and win the fight. And yes, many of Randy's victories are from holding his opponents on the cage or ground and winning. What's your point?

Yeah, nate did lose fair and square, but Nate is the more well rounded fighter. His last fight against Paulo was embarrassing man....on both fighters behalf. I'm sure he has gotten better but a champion he is not. It's kind of like how Forrest fought his way up to a title shot and even won the title, but everyone knew that he didn't have the skills to stay that and it showed.

It just seems to me that Chael rattle off a few wins and everyone jumps on his bandwagon like he is the next big thing and he isn't. If he can't get Anderson down, he is going to get beat to death. He has ALOT more work to do. There are plenty of guys that he needs to fight. He is getting Anderson next because they will make a killing off of Chael's mouth...it will build hype.

Okay. I can agree with that. He has gotten better than he was. I don't "hate" the guy. I just want to see what happens when he can't get the take down. IMO, a fighter is best measured once you see how he responds when he is out of his element....or having to fight a fight that isn't his strongest skill.
