Ok, so i'm still in school, but i don't see how people work 40 hours a week and still have a life.

I'm in class 32 hours a week, and after class i usually study 4 hours a night and then some on the weekends. When I get out of class I'm pretty much drained after listening to intensive lectures and labs for 8 hours.

Where do people get motivation to still make it to the gym or do much of anything besides cook dinner and lay on the couch?

      sorry, just a rant.

FIRST OFF BRO YOU HAVE TO NOT SIT ON THE COUCH SO MUCH. I MYSELF DOEN'T EVEN HAVE FURNITURE (EXCEPT MY WORKBENCH OOPS I MEAN MY BED). MOTIVATION IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT AND WHAT GETS YOU GOING INSIDE TO GIVE YOU THE DRIVE TO CONQUOR ALL. SECOND YOU HAVE TO QUIT HAVING FUN. J/K. BUT YOU NEED TO BE ABLE TO RUN YOUR LIFE W/ PRIORITIES NOT WHAT EVERYONE ELSE GOT GOING ON. FIGURE OUT WHAT YOU GOT TO DO, TO GET IT DONE THEN DO IT!

Was just talking about you CJ! Was asking where you been!! Now i see, lol. Try to think of the long term and not day to day trials. Hard work will pay off, and yes don't listen to others about partying, clubing and what have you. Stay in a direct path to what you are setting for yourself. And about the gym, try to make it as a kind of getaway, and more of a place to unwind and relax instead of a chore. Take a steam or a swim afterwards it will rejuvenate you, really. I do feel for you, ive been there.

Time is something you make, not something you have.

There are 168 hours in the week.
If you work 40, that leaves 128. You travel to and from work say 10 hours, that leaves 118. You sleep 56 hours, that leaves 62. You bath/shower for 3.5 hours (that's 30 minutes each time), that leaves 58.5. Lets say you eat 6 meals at 30 minutes each, that's 21 hours which leaves 37.5. Lets say you train for 1 hour 5 days and 1 hour travel time each day, thats 10 hours which leaves you 27.5. Lets say you are married like me and you spend 3 hours a day of quality time with the family, thats 21 which still leaves you 6.5 hours.

Actually you should have more. Most guys dont shower for 30 minutes, most of us don't live 30 miuntes from the gym, most of us dont work 1 hour from home, most of us dont take 30 minutes to eat each meal, some of us dont lift 5 days a week, and many of us dont sleep the full 8 hours a night.

There is more than enough time if you manage it wisely. I own my own business where I am available from 8 AM to 6 PM. I lift 3-4 days a week, I mountain bike 3 days a week, I play football every saturday for 3 hours, I have business meetings every wednesday and bible study every thursday, I go to church every sunday (well, most of the time), and I spend a lot of time with my family. It's in how you manage it. I don't make time for tv, tv is what I get when everything that is important is done.
I used to have superhuman powers....until my therapist took them away.

I work 40 hours a week, go to school (6 credit hours), lift 4 days a week, have a family w/2 children. Not much problem with motivation here.

Wasn't a lack of motivation, just a lack of grades.

You should think about lifting while you are at the gym...

Well the answer to this is simple. Going to the gym, yard work, shopping, etc. are things that we like to do and therfore don't need motivation for. Now work we hate and therefore require motivation to do so. For most of us our motivation comes to us daily in a box. They're these little things called BILLS!
