A good friend of mine back in Charleston, SC got hold of a Charles Daley 10 gauge double barrel over under shotgun last week at a gun show. He said some old woman and her husband were carrying it and he asked if it was for sale. She said yes and that she was offered $300 and turned it down. My friend not knowing anything about it except the fact that it was old (late 1800s) and a 10 gauge, offered her $400, and she accepted. He gets home and looks it up and then takes it to his gun dealer buddy who appraised it to be worth at least $3,000.

      The luck some people have..lol.

That's always nice. I wouldn't know, but I'm sure it is.

We have a late 1800s 16ga dbl-barrel. side-by-side. I've searched and found some like it online valued at $350.
I need to go through all our old collectors from a couple of P38s right from German soldiers from WWII that all the serial numbers match-up, to a Civil War Musket. Those P38s got cleaned by the Germans in an assembly line style as they passed them down the table, so the frame, slide, clip, etc...hardly ever ended up back with it's mates.

I would think your 16 gauge would be worth more than that, but maybe it is less because it is a 16 gauge which is more common. The 10 gauge is a very rare gun and he told me ammo for it is $100 a box, at least that is the cheapest he found.

Nice job- the new Charles daly's are junk IMHO. I have a 1900 LC Smith SXS 12g that I still shoot.

yeah. I gotta get my hands on them and make a detailed list of some, including serial #'s etc...I really don't even know the make. I just found some online that looked just like it.

JsJs24- can you get me the makers name and any other marking on that gun. Got my curiosity up- Charles Daly firearms were under a different name during that period I believe

Okay, he said it is indeed a Charles Daly and has the name on the receiver. It also has the word Damascus on the barrell near the top and the number 413 in multiple places.
