Tweetgreat service 20% avergae 15% and poor i always leave somthing but as little as a dollar and i make them know why they suck
i always seem to tip more at hooters for some reason?
TweetBeing in a field where tips are a big part of my income, I am curious as to what percent you all tip at? Do you use this percentage also when you get you hair done?
I usually tip at 20% and if the service is not so good, I might tip at 15%. Sometimes I will even go over 20% if service is top notch!

TweetI will give 15-25% depending on the service. I have had terrible service in the past and belly ached (what a shocker right) and swore I was going to leave 5% or so but by the time the check came, I left 15%.
As far as getting a haircut, I'm probably a bad example to gauge a tip because the place I go to is $12 for a haircut and I leave/give $20 because if there is a wait the girl always says that I had an appointment and takes me before everyone. Well worth the money!

Lol, you get taken first because the girls remember that you tip well! They probably don't get that kind of tip too often. While we shouldn't give "good" tippers better service, we often do.

TweetI usually leave between 15-18% for acceptable or good service. I I'll leave a lot less - or nothing - for poor service. If service is very good - or if an expensive restaurant - I'll leave 20%+, but not a lot more than 20% because it is usually a big check anyway. For very cheap meals (or whatever) where I may spend less than $10, I will always leave at least $2-3 (assuming good service).
As for haircuts, I never spend more than $20. I have 2 places - a local barber that charges $13 - where I usually tip $4-5. The other place is a salon near work that charges $17 - and I make it an even $20 when I go there.
Taxis get an extra $2-3 from me, maybe $5 if it is a long trip.
Tweet20% if service is just average. if we had good service, as much as 30%. haircut's cost me $15 and i give $20....and i dont get rushed to the front of the line, lol. if service was bad becouse of something out of the waitress controll (place is too busy, cook is a dum****) i'll still tip 20% minimum...i realize they live of tips and dont want to penalize them for a crappy cook or a bad hostess or something. i never just not tip...waitress is just a bytch...10%-15% and i might suggest another line of work..."i hear mcdonalds is hiring"....

TweetI can't tip below 15% unless the service is just HORRIBLE and I mean horrible b/c they suck not because things are out of their control. I hate it when people leave shitty tips b/c the restaraunt is busy or the cook ****ed somethign up.
TweetIt would take a REALLY horrible expereince for me to tip less than 20%. I will also tip on alcohol which is usually more than my food bill.
Tweetmost times I double the tax and round off
Tweethuh...whats the tax rate?...that'd be like 12% up here and even rounding up (depending on the bill) would only add a couple percent to it...
i guess basicly i'm asking if your a tighta$$...you a tight a$$ bro, or what?

TweetI am glad to hear that most of you are good tippers. i have done services for $100 and will sometimes get $10. That is only 10%. I don't know if people are cheap or they really don't know how they should tip. On the other hand, I will get $10 for a men's $32 haircuit and $15 to $20 for a woman's $54 haircut. That is good tipping!!!

Tweeti almost think, most the time, people dont really know how to do the math in there head, or are too rushed, and just wing it. next time just call 'em out..."hey...tighta$$...wanna cough up another 10bucks or you rather i shave off an eye brow next time??"
or wait...next time just take off a chunk of earlobe!!! "dam...sorry about that...i was 10$ short for the prescription eye glasses i need"

TweetYeah, I guess it's all relative though. My jar head cut is done in less than 10 minutes. If I was having things done that took an hour or so I think a larger gratuity would be in order.

TweetI tip on average 15%- I have had very poor service and left nothing and had extra special nights where the tip has been a cool $100.00. Just depends on my service and what the evening is about. I do not tip less than 15% unless, like I said, you have given me flat horrible service
TweetTax in new york city is 8.50 so 17% on average.
