Two arrested, charged with cocaine possession
Two men - one from Romeoville - were arrested and charged Monday with possessing cocaine worth nearly $19 million.
Anastacio Esparza, 39, of Belmont Drive in Romeoville, was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine by the Chicago Police Narcotics Section Squad C-4 after they received a tip about drug trafficking occurring in a Little Village neighborhood.
Lorenzo Barrios, 41, of the 2600 block of South Springfield Ave., Chicago, was arrested and charged with one count each of possession, delivery of cocaine and possession of cannabis.
After receiving the tip, police set up surveillance and observed two people exchange drugs on South Springfield Ave. in Chicago, according to the release.
After the deal went down, police arrested Esparza and seized 50 kilograms of cocaine, valued at more than $6 million, from a van, the release said.
Further investigation then led police to Barrios, who was allegedly found to be in possession of an additional 104 kilograms of cocaine at his home, according to the release.
In total, the drugs seized were worth almost $19 million, police estimated. Two vehicles were also impounded during the bust.
Both are scheduled to appear in bond court Tuesday, officials said.

TweetI think I figured a better way to boost the economy than the bailout!
IF people are willing to spend the $$ on it then why not make some tax money on it and use it for the economy.
Of course that's wishfull thinking - as soon as the governing powers started making money from another source, in this case drugs, they'd F that up too and give themselves more money and we the working folks would be in no different position.
