TweetLIKE I SAID BEFORE DANA IS A LITTLE B I TCH. WHEN THINGS DONT GO HIS WAY OR HIS LITTLE UFC GETS A SLAP FOR SOMETHING STUPID DONE HE HAS TO START RELEASING GUYS FROM THERE CONTRACT. HEY LUTTER LOST BAD BUT I DONT THINK HE SHOULD OF BEEN RELEASED
TweetMiddleweight tournament winner from the fourth season of “The Ultimate Fighter” Travis Lutter has been released by the UFC.
The news was broken by Pramit Mohapatra of FightTicker.com, who was informed of the development via e-mail by Lutter himself.
Lutter fought and lost to former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin on April 19 at UFC 83 in Montreal, Canada.
It was Lutter’s first bout since having lost a bout against UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva at UFC 67 in February of 2007. Lutter became infamous from the fight as a result of failing to make weight, thus forcing what had been a title match to become a non-title fight.
Lutter joins Kalib Starnes as fighters who lost at UFC 83 that have been released by the promotion in the days that have proceeded the event. The UFC is expected to pair down its roster of 200 fighters to somewhere in the 140-160 range.
Travis confirmed this on his myspace blog

Tweetyeah i don't know about that. Luder is atleast in the top 10 of the middle weights. If anything they should cut from the bottom up not the top down. the Dana Method is going to have a few guys dominate the weight division and nobody else to even be a real contender

TweetWell, Lutter hasn't shown anything. His first fight he didn't make weight. His second fight he gassed very quickly and he gassed in the 2nd fight. IMO, he just doesn't seem like he wants it. He has the talent to win some fights (not be number one), but he refuses to train. He never trains with a camp. His only training is with his students in his school. From what i have seen, the only gameplan he has is to come in and sub quickly and if that doesn't work then he can't finish. I don't know about letting him go completely but I wouldn't want to put much stock in him either. If you are going to fight for the big show, you need to come prepared. I know there are a few fighters that gas and are still in the UFC, but they also put on a show where Lutter doesn't

TweetI think he should have been let go after not making weight in the Silva fight. He's a freaking professional. Not making weight should never be an issue. Shows me he doesn't want it!
TweetIF TRAVIS EVER GETS A GREAT CAMP HE CAN DO VERY WELL

I agree with that. He has the potential he just seems to lazy to train the way someone on that level should train.

Tweethe has his own school in fort worth. its a top knotch BJJ school. but not known for MMA.
the reason he was let go is his work ethic sucks. he was out of shape and his conditioning was sub par in the silva fight and obviously his conditioning was poor in the franklin fight.
he is trying to be a coach to his students and train for a top level match at the same time, it just dosnt work.
you are right if he trained full time for him and didnt gas his BJJ is kick ass
TweetEven if he did train better and didn't gas out, he would have to dramatically improve his stand up. I mean his BJJ is top notch, his wrestling is okay, his strength is okay, and his stand up is terrible. He was let go because his fights suck. I mean BJs cardio has been bad in the past but he still fight his ass off until the point where his cardio is completely gone. Lutter comes in and does nothing until he can take you down. If he can't take you down then you have won the fight. He is too one dimensional to fight on that level. There are many guys that have their own schools and still fight. They just have the "want to."

Tweetbump, the dude has a ton of potential but no motivation to pursue the most of it. My sensei's son is same way. Natural talent out his a$$ but he never gets in top shape and same with Lutter. He gets a shot at Silva for world title and doesn't even make focking weight? not a professional at all.
TweetI heard something funny in an article today.. it said..
Lutter and Starns should start their own MMA promotion, it would have a mattress in the middle of the octagon to take a nap when fighters get tired, and a track around it for fighters to run around!
