I have been prescribed Ambien for a couple of years now due to working weird hours and completing graduate school on top of it. I also take prescription Ultram for a slipped disk that causes a lot of pain issues and migraines. Anyways, I work 1st shift hours but got asked to work from midnight to 8:00am this morning. When I got home, I was wound up from drinking soda to stay awake so I took my standard dose of Ambien and pain medication, nothing different. I then remember going to bed after talking to my wife and kids at about 9:00am, I woke up at about 3:00pm and went out to the kitchen where my wife asked to explain what the **** I was doing earlier that morning. Turns out, I came out to the kitchen around 10:00am with a change of clothes telling her that there was somebody in the bedroom so I had to change outside, I was hallucinating of course. She then said I put all my medication into my daughters lunchbox all the time saying some off the wall shit. She said she was so scared that she did not know what to do, and I don't remember a damn thing...everything is a complete blank. All I remember is going to bed and waking up like nothing happened. I have heard stories of how Ambien has done wierd stuff to people but I never thought this would happen to me, I just assumed it happened to dumb asses who abused it and took it with alcohol or other crap...it scared the shit out of me. Even in my drunken college days I have never had a blackout period like what I experienced today. So word to the wise, if any of you take Ambien, be cautious, I took it for quite a while with no problems at all and then this happened.
