Grounded in the post-punk tradition, Django Django at first listen seem like Hot Chip’s janglier cousins. Though they share that band’s limey sense of joy, there is also an experimentalism and freedom about them that is more reminiscent of The Beta Band. In fact, their self-titled record wouldn’t have been out of place on the Factory records roster that included New Order and Quando Quango, all this making theirs a perhaps unlikely but highly suitable album to play on an afternoon run.
