TweetI listed something on craigslist the other day, and received an email from a Curtis Timothy, CEO of Craigslist, stating I had won an ipad.
Here's the email;
"Attention Craigslist User,

You have been picked as one of our most recent winners for today. We randomly choose numbers to match up with ads on Craig's list and your advertisement matched with our latest drawing.

Congrats on winning a free Apple iPad (valued at $800). If you have any query or concerns, feel free to email me back. However, you should claim your free iPad 1st to ensure one will be reserved for you before the deadline ends. We do understand that you may possibly not receive this email until after the deadline, however, we advise you check the web site and enter your email to see if we still have yours on hold, which we often-times do because others have not claimed theirs in time.

Looks pretty legit. I thought it might be legit. So I clicked on the CLICK HERE, which is a link in the original email, and then I'm led to all this bs. I have to order a free trial of this, and enter a credit card #. Or pay $1 for a 30 day trial of such-n-such (enter card #)...It required me do to this 2 times. Then all the sudden it changed to 9 times. Hell, at that rate, I'd ran up $800 on all the bs trial offers that you're required to get.
Anyone else ever had this type of thing happen?

TweetI responded to an free Ipad scam a while back. It was bogus and they got my email address and I was immediately flooded with hundreds of spam advertisment emails. They are still coming and I have to constantly unsubscribe and delete. Shit like "Do you want to be an FBI agent?"
Tweetyeah, As soon as I saw those 13 offers that must be accepted, I hit the brakes. But, a little too late because I'd already accepted 2 of them. so, not "as soon as", but pretty quickly there-after.
It really pisses me off the more I think about it. I really thought it was legit. My fault. I know...naive. But it looked good to me.
That company needs to tighten up on the scammers that lurk that service.
