Lol.. Everything has been going great. Tentative date is July 8th 2006. Still over a year away.
The fiance has been making plans and changing them so fast I don't even try to keep up anymore. I figure I'll wait until we're about 6 months out before I even start to worry about it.
Sugar: The proposal was pretty straight forward. She knew I was planning to propose and it was just a matter of time. So I decided to toy with her a bit. I made a big deal about going out for a "date"... started planning it with her about 10 days in advance. Came home from work that Friday evening with a bouquet of flowers, a bottle of wine, and a light snack. We drank the wine and ate our snack while I made a big fuss about "what I should wear" and asking which one of my dress shirts was her favorite. By this time I already had her going.. she really excited and had even bought a new outfit for the evening. So anyway.. took her to some sappy chick flick she had been wanting to see for a couple of weeks, then out to a fancy greek restaurant. I had made reservations for "the most romantic seats in the house" and boy did they deliver. Right by the fireplace, surrounded by plants and candles. It was perfect.. the waitress even made the "mistake" of saying "Oh, your the guy with the special reservation". I though she was going to faint right there
. So we shared a platter for two and another bottle of wine... along with some desert coffee afterwards. Lol.. you could tell with every move she was ready for me to propose.. and as the night neared it's end, you could see the concern growing in her eyes. No.. I did not purpose in the restuarant. Instead I took her home and told her "I'm pooped.. time for bed". I then brushed my teeth, layed in bed, and turned out the light.. she did the same.
Lol.. she was pissed! She didn't say anything but you could tell. Wouldn't even say goodnight to me.. usually she cuddles up to me, but I was getting the cold shoulder that night. Hehe.. I let her stew for about 5 minutes.. then pulled the ring out from under my pillow where I had carefully hidden it earlier. I leaned over to her and said "Turn the light on for a minute" When she turned the light on, I had the ring out in front of her and recited a short poem I made up for this occasion. Of course she started crying after the 1st line... her official answer was "yes yes yes YES"
After that, I pulled out a bottle of champagne I had also hidden earlier, along with a chocolate fondu and fruit platter. That was about it.. we snuggled on the couch, fed each other chocolate covered fruit, and talked excitedly for an hour or so.. by then I could tell she was bursting at the seams to tell someone, so I gave her permission to go and phone her family.. which she did.. 1/2 drunk at 2 in the morning.
