TweetI have 1,250 rounds on hand now. I meant to buy more at the gun show yesterday but held off.

Tweetnice stock.
I mean, in your carry piece. Ya can't have too many, of course. But what's the least in a pistol, capacity-wise, that you're confident with? Once you're confident with the pistol?
TweetMy Ruger LCP only holds 6+1, but I plan to buy an extra clip to carry.

Tweet6 is plenty. Unless you are in a Hollywood style shootout or in fallujah.

TweetGood point. I guess it would depend on where I'm at.

TweetThat question is relative to circumstance.
I'm close to rc10 on my comfort level. Being the statistics of domestic crimes where deadly force is needed for SD, you more than likely will not be faced with multiple assailants. Usually 1. Now and then, 2 or 3, but only 1 or 2 of those multiple attackers has a set between his legs. Say you have 3. Once the 1st and/or 2nd is dropped, or even right when the shyt really hits the fan for them, you have at least 1 assailant that realizes he best haul ass.
Being the domestic statistics. I'd be content with 6. The more the marrier, but with over 90% of self defense situations being less than 15ft. I'm more than content with 10rds. So long as you can hit center-mass at 21ft without hesitation, you should be well-armed with 6. Because hitting center mass quickly at 21ft should make you capable to hit the most vital organ, without a doubt, at half that distance.
Bottom line. The better I am with my carry piece. The less I need to feel content with. I like to have more than less though. Capacity's a great thing.
TweetI carry a .45 1911. i have 8+1 in the gun and carry two spare 8 round mags with me at all times. have another two mags in my car as a backup. you should always carry at least one spare mag just in case of malfunction. most close range gunfights are over in 3 seconds.
TweetRange is usually less than 10 feet. At that range range lethality is pretty much a given if you can hit what you aim at. Consider the fact that revolvers in the old west held six and were cumbersome to reload at best. Todays autos in good condition rarely malfunction so a spare mag as a backup is plenty....even if it only has a seven round capacity.
Practice, practice, practice.
TweetThat, my friend, is the utmost priority. And is key to wheather you hit your assailant, or not. Even at only 10ft, with mouse guns like the tiny Tecs and LCP.
Tweetdon't think someone is just going to fall down as soon as they are shot like on tv. Pistols are not like shooting someone with a high power rifle. Look up Josh bush port Arthur. He's a theif here in town that robbed a car lot. The owner, a competitive shooter, shot hi
in the forehead right between the eyes with a 9mm. It just lodged in his thick skull and didn't hurt him. The bullet is still there today.

Tweetno shit! That dude's skull is thicker than Holyfield's. (Holyfield really has a thicker skull.)
but 9mm will, pop thru pressure treated 2x4! Yellawood. like nothin. 9mm will penetrate like a champ! It isn't a 7.62 out of a 16.5"barrel...or shotgun, but that's gotta be a world's record thing. With the 9mm lodged in a forehead.
Where's a link to that. I gotta read that one. That's crazy.
TweetThat's why I buy home defense rounds with hollow points that double in size after impact. That man probably wasn't shot by a hollow point. I also have some .45 rounds that have shotgun pellets in them, sealed underneath a rubber coating. I think those will do pretty good damage.

TweetAn FMJ penetrates more than a HP. That's why it's safer to use HP instead of FMJ in your CC piece. Less collateral damage if you miss the assailant with hollow-points. FMJ will just keep traveling through stuff. Especially your larger calibers, e.g. 9mm, .40, .45...
Something had to be wrong with this fo-head thing. It was either a bad round with just enough powder to get the round through the barrel, or he's superman. I want to read that story.
I know WWB target ammo is the wimpiest round, but they still punch through 2x4s. Heck, like I said. My .22LR does that. That's a rifle, but it's not coming with the energy of a 9mm. A round has to be hot enough to make it down the barrel. That's a very tight squeeze with most guns.
Ever checked out your imprints, on the round itself, from the barrel after it's been fired?
