TweetAs someone who treat psychiatiric patients and family members with Bipolar I who are working, productive citizens because of psychiatric drugs and not on welfare, I see the benefits of these drugs, but , it can be inappropriatly prescribed. All drugs have side effects. Heck, water can cause seizures, electrolyte imbalance, cardiac arrythmias, congestive heart failure. As a ex ANALYTICAL chemist who used to analyze over the counter herbs and drugs, I found because there is no regulatory agency governing over the counter drugs, half the time they didn't have the substance they claimed to have! That is the biggest problem we doctors have, especially those of us who worked on analyzing drug content. Only Germany is smart enough to have a regulatory agency for the over the counter Herbs that demands high quality control laboratory report by chemists as to the actual herbal content of the drug. With that said, there is a huge problem with the FDA MMS: Error
The above is a good critque of the FDA , sensible , without fanfare.
For record, as a dual citizen of china and US, the FDA is better than the fact that back home we have no regulatory agency whatsoever. That is why all the lead tainted herbs, melamine tainted foods and heparin blood thinner fiasco happens in my home country. In Russia, all prescription drugs have 100% clinical efficacy, unlike us, they don't have a open culture of critique about their drug trials......
