TweetYeah, this is a tough fight for Pettis. I am pulling for him to win, but it will just depend on his ability to keep it standing. He can submit Guida, but it will be tough
TweetPettis is a warrior. Much respect for him taking this chance at loosing the title shot if he is beaten
Anthony Pettis Plans To Fight Instead Of Waiting For Title Shot
Posted on Jan 9, 2011
A draw between Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard through a wrench in the plans of the UFC and Anthony Pettis who was sitting in wait to see who would walk away the UFC Lightweight Champion and who he would face next but with Maynard and Edgar now set for a rematch, Pettis' manager Mike Roberts tells MMAWeekly.com that his fighter will continue to fight:
"Anthony was obviously disappointed in not getting the title shot, but he also understands why Dana made that decision," Roberts said. "After consulting with Anthony and Duke Roufus, we collectively decided that it would be in Anthony's best interest to take a fight in the meantime.
"A 10-month or possible year layoff was just too long. We believe with a win against a top lightweight contender Anthony will still get the title shot later in the year".
Meanwhile, Pettis tells Dave Meltzer that he wants top competition:
"I only want to face guys at the top - George Sotiropoulos, Clay Guida, Jim Miller, [Sean] Sherk, anybody that makes sense," said Pettis. "I don't want to fight someone who isn't high level. If I fight, I think I've earned fighting the best guys."

Tweetpettis is a much better striker and has incredible subs (triangle) but guida has great sub defense.
can guida take down pettis who is long and lanky. he is hard to take down and has great footwork
but guida has that jumping left hook that puts alot of folk on their heels and sets up thunderous takedowns, hard to defend when your weight is back right?
i like this match up better than pettis vs edgar or maynard to be honest
TweetYeah, that's pretty much what I was saying. I would have rather seen Pettis and Edgar. I don't know...there is just something I don't like about watching Guida. He gets on my nerves.
