mmajunkie.com has confirmed with Marcus Davis' manager Joe Cavallaro that the 37 year-old UFC lightweight has been released from his contract after appearing on The Ultimate Fighter, and garnering five bonuses for his in-Octagon performances (3 "Fight of the Nght," 1 "submission of the night" and 1 "Knockout of the Night").
Davis plans to continue his career in other organizations in hopes of a return to the Octagon.

TweetHe needed to be really. He hasn't done that well lately. His biggest asset has always been his boxing and that just doesn't cut it any more. He has recently improved his ground game but he is behind the 8-ball on that one. He will probably be back in the future though. I can see him getting a few KO's in the smaller orgs.
