randy and lindland are mostly greco guys and BJ is good in the clench, he needs a shot guy like bader.

sonnen would also be a great choice

Good point about Lindland and Randy....I was throwing them in their to make my point about size, but they would be very beneficial in teaching BJ defense from being thrown to the ground or arm drug to the ground....etc. BJ wouldn't get much benefit from Edgar. BJ has the strength and size advantage over Edgar and I just don't see him improving BJ that much. I would give that about 2 weeks before BJ was tooling Edgar. He needs big guys that can throw him around.

my friend, you are missing the one aspect BJ has probs with..................speed.

if he is equal or faster he has no probs but edgars speed baffles him. he needs to train with a guy like edgar or aldo. its not about strength and size when training for speed.

If that's the case, then why couldn't Diego get him down? Or Sherk? Diego has good takedowns and is quick with them too. Edgar has speed in his standup. Aldo has speed in his standup. BJ actually has some of the quicker hands in the division. Edgar got BJ down because BJ was worried about figuring out Edgar's timing on the standup...plain and simple.

TweetHow about BJ didnt give a shit about egar and the fight didnt motivate BJ and he didnt want it bad enough. No here can view all BJ fights and say they way he acted by walking in the ring and standing there like a tree and taking in little breathes of air that something was wrong.

TweetDiego couldnt get BJ down because Diego looked like he came straight out of a "feed the children" campaign. BJ was too strong for him and Kenny. Diego "Skeletor" Sanchez, at least at 155.

My thing is this....give BJ two weeks working with Edgar, and he will be stuffing every takedown that Edgar can throw, because BJ has the speed to stop them and has the strength to over power Edgar. Yeah, Edgar got him down in the fights but that was BJ having trouble with his timing in the standup more than focusing on TDD. Once he gets Edgar's timing down, the takedowns are over and BJ is back at square one. He needs bigger guys that have good takedowns. GSP would be perfect.

edgars speed in his takedown is so much faster than the bulldog technique of sherk and the single leg and grind technique of sanchez.

edgar is on a diff level. edgar and bj have similar hand speed but bj cant get off as well fearing the takedown.

if bj trained with edgar he would get down the timing of edgar which is very good. his quickness and ability to read his opponent makes him diff than sanchez who has to shoot, push a guy to the cage (more often than not) and work very hard for the take down and sherk who uses his bulk to drive through an opponent with strength.

while fast by middle weight or up standards, sherk and diego are not much faster than most LWs
