TweetFind out what all Mr. Saleen did to it. They can go from just a suspension & brake kit with all the badges. and I mean all the Saleen badges. It lets you know it's a Saleen on the dash, door panels, seats, etc, etc...but The sweetest thing about a car that's gone through the Saleen factory is that your insurance premium is for a base model GT. The VIN# does not change. And those are what Steve Saleen uses to tansform into the machine that is the...Saleen Mustang.
Maybe he's getting one with some nice forced air induction (blower). Now you're talking. I love to hear that spooling up under the hood. whew! just got a tingle up my spine.
TweetI would say that it's not a s351 because there were only 22 made in that year. If it's a supercharger version it's considered a saleen cobra and they offered 14 coupes and 21 convertibles. I would assume from the numbers that the one your nephew is buying would be a saleen gt which had 59 of the coupe and 91 convertibles. If its not a supercharges cobra i would say don't buy it. you could get a much cheaper gt if that is the body style he wants and build a much more capable car for much less. At 18k i would hope to got it's a cobra version otherwise they are getting taken. just my 2cents
TweetIt's not an S351 because the last one of those were produced in '95 when they were still putting push rod motors in them, correct?
nevermind, I just saw that Saleen kicked a few of those out later than the mod change-up. It's not an S351 because it's more than half what one goes for too, huh. Damn, was that a beast!

TweetI remember seeing that freestyle bike guy got the last S351. It was a Black vert. Steve Saleen took a ride with him and was telling him, "come on, give it some gas dude."lol...that's right.
Tweetno they made them up until 98. they actually used stock v6 mustangs to build them off of making them a great insurance deal if you can find one now for a decent price.
Tweeti'm pretty sure its a supercharged cobra based on the price

TweetHey thanks. He's probably already in salt lake picking it up, but I assume he did his homework. I dunno. today is the first day I ever heard of a Saleen. Hopefully the kid doesnt get ripped off.
Tweetyour right a standard mustang cobra was not supercharged until 03 however a saleen produced a supercharged mustang before that and it was labeled the cobra model saleen
TweetWow! this whole Mustang thing has its own subculture, or so it seems. My brother has a Steeda Mustang and now his son is gettin this Saleen. Whats a Steeda? all this talk has me wantin a Mustang and ive always been a corvette only guy. My brother is in a Mustang club and they do shit every weekend in their cars. shit, I better get me one..lol
I will post a pic of my nephews saleen. they arent going until next tuesday
TweetSteeda is kinda similar to Saleen. You can purchase Steeda packages with your Mustang. The Ford dealership puts the Steeda parts on the car. Steve Saleen owns a factory and buys (x) amount of Mustangs, numbers them, and puts them back out to dealers, or you can pick your Saleen up straight from Steve.
You know the Saleen S7? Super, crazy, exotic, fast car. Theoretically, it's aerodynamics and top speed would allow the S7 to travel upside down, like stuck to the ceiling, from the downforce. It's one sick ride. When you purchase one of those, they messure you, like for a tux or something, to build the car to your exact fit. You pick those up from Steve Saleen himself.
Your conversion from Vette to Stang is a smart one. The force is strong with you now. I've was just telling my wife about 2 friends that I grew up with that switched to Stang after us that were stangers and Jamie, he had a Vette, and Doug, he grabbed the 6speed Z28 in '96 I think it was. That was the first and last bowties they owned. Doug has an '03 Cobra now.(1st year with the roots supercharger)<---fukin fast. Jamie rolled his last '98 Cobra about a year ago when he forgot about this hump for railroad tracks about half mile down a familiar street. It was late. a.m. late. He shouldn't have been driving.
But anyhow, congrats on the swap, and congrats to the new Saleen owner. I'm filled with envy
