TweetI used to take Tylenol PM but I found it was simply too much $$ and I don't like take that much tylenol to sleep - I was up to 4+ a night.
I read what the sleep ingredient was and it's nothing more than whats in benadryl or over OTC stuff.
I found a "sleep" med that was just the active ingredient and take about 4 of those a night and ibuprofen or naproxen when and if I have extra aches and pains.
Taking this much stuff on a regular basis can't be good but I can't see taking all the tylenol to get the sleep benefit and more work for the liver.
Occasionaly - as in the case for you last night - it works great though
Last night was a bear for me too - just couldn't get settled for long.
I was asleep hard and fast but awake an hour and a half later.
Took a leak - got a cookie and some milk - then hard and fast asleep just to be up again in an hour and a half.
All night long. Funny thing is I woke up totally refreshed - probalby crash later this morning!!

Tweeti'm anything but "refreshed"....i'm tired as shyt!

Tweettrezadone. I think it might have some antidepressant ingredient, but nothing to even sneaze over. It's main purpose is sleep. And a good night's sleep it delivers. And, it's no Ambien, or something that can grab hold of ya. You'll wanna take it 8hrs before your wake up time. No morning drowsiness what-so-ever. none!
...I wouldn't take an antidpressant if not needed bro.

Tweetget one of those machines you wear to sleep (cpap, cpack?) My father in law had sleep apnea and got one and he sleeps 8 good hours a night now
Tweet
My dad uses a cpap too. It will only help if you have sleep apnea. Just because you have insomnia doesn't mean you have sleep apnea. It could be amany othet reasons, but if you do have sleep apnea you will not feel rested and it is hard on your heart.

Tweetdamn sleep apnea. That's what kills my good night's rest. They say those of us that suffer from sleep apnea, that our body is working 70% harder, just trying to breathe, than when just sitting idle awake. That's why I'm always so damn tired. I've worked my ass off while asleep.
TweetI wonder why nobody, none of my doctors, have mentioned this cpap. I guess I should do my sleep test first that I've ducked for years.
TweetI have insomnia to an it gets worse as I am getting older. This happens to women a lot as they get older due to hormonal changes but I am not sure if it happens to men too. Having issues with pain does not help any either. Has anyone ever tried Amitriptyline? Doc has prescribed it to me because of the pain I am in, to help me sleep better, but I have not tried it yet.

How did they diagnose you without an actual sleep test?

TweetI don't know about it. One thing about me is I'm pro meds. Whatever it takes to live comfortably and happy, or happier at least. So, I hope everyone gets their issues worked out. I got mine. I'm a happy camper and I don't need antidepressants. Nothing wrong with them. I've seen them change people's lives for the better. One very dear person to me had a time with different meds til they finally found the correct one for her. Wellbutrin. Thank you science, and wellbutrin.
TweetI haven't been. and I might not be. My mother has seen and heard me fall asleep at her house a few lately, and she just really thinks I have it. The way I'll stop breathing, then gasp, and snore like crazy, struggling for breaths. I've been pretty bad since my late teenms, but she said it's gotten extremely worse since she's seen me sleep laelty a couple times. And my wife said, "oh, that's nothing."
...my mom is a retired nurse, so she's pretty good. But, i do need a specialist to really diagnose it.

The best person to tell you would be the one who is with you when you are sleeping. What your mother has told you about when you sleep, definitely sounds like you may have it.
