TweetKITE IF YOUR INTO GUNS YEAH GO FOR IT
TweetJust wondering if any of you think this is worth it. I got a catalog in the mail selling a used Romanian AK-47 "parts kit" for $140. Everything is there except the receiver which isn't very much at all. Apparently all ya gotta do is buy a receiver, put it all back together and you got a fully auto 1975 model AK for under $200.

TweetWell, if by chance you ever got questioned by LE for anything and they found it, the stakes would change dramatically. If you got it, I would make certain is was NOT functional. That way, you can't get in trouble. It's one thing to collect fully automatic weapons, it's another thing to have them functional. I think that's when you get in trouble. But I don't know for sure. I'm not a gun guy personally, I'm too much of a short fuse and that's something I don't need in close range when that fuse burns up.
Tweetsounds like a good deal to me I would do it
TweetThe best is the original Soviet AK-47. There are varients and kits of AK's from all over apparently. My Russian semi auto(of coarse) was bought brand new from a military gun show for $170, if memory serves me correct...about 12 years ago. A family member was military and picked it up. Great buy! I'm not sure how much they usually go for though. It's the baddest rifle I've ever fired. Dead center at 300 meters.
I personally wouldn't pay that for some Romanian kit. I wouldn't be messing around with fully auto weapons anyway. Find a National Guard Armory division gun show that's open to the public and get you the real deal Russian AK-47. That is the toughest rifle ever made. They've submurged them in water, mud, storms, you name it. Your trusty AK-47 will be there when you need it.
TweetThat sounds like a pretty good deal. AK's aren't that expensive but I know I haven't ever seen any for $140 and I haven't seen any fully auto![]()
TweetYou said "FULL AUTO"?? Well if it says that I would personally stay the FU*CK away from it.
Now if it is semi auto, it may be a OK deal but I do know for a FACT that BATF runs stings on the Shotgun News Magazine that says things like that. And the BATF is not one to mess around with.
A lot of their stings feature "FULL AUTO KITS" for AR 15's and M4's. Once you order it you get a knock at your door.

TweetOwning a fully auto requires a class III license from the BATF. Must apply and have a background check run on you. Also, the license is fairly expensive.
I definately WOULD NOT make it a full auto unless it is fully registared and fully licensed. Feds do not play when it comes to this.
Push it, Pull it, Rack it. Repeat untill wide!!
Take nothing I say as serious, What do I know, I sell water!!

TweetHell here in Canada we are not even allowed to have AKs, let alone full auto. The closest we can get is a semi-auto CZ (looks similar but has a different action) and your only allowed 5 round clips at that! I am getting a very well made SKS which I can get for $125, but I would love to own an AK, just a solid rifle all round. I am more into long distance target shooting personally!
TweetI thought automatic assault rifles are legal now?

TweetSemi Automatic assault rifles are, not fully auto. The dumbass dems tried to take our assault rifles already, and Bush fixed that bullshyt.

Kite, there are two ways that you can go about makine an AK-47 or a AR-15 fully auto. First off is you can apply for your FFL or federal firearms liscense which takes about 6 months and after you pass all the background checks and get approved anytime there after it gives all levels of LE the right to enter your house any time un announced and search all of your belongings so they can see if you are producing full auto recievers for anyone and etc. Second you are better off getting or making a DIAS which is a drop in auto sear and this is what makes the weapon fully auto by preventing the firing pin from catching on the spring at the back of the weapon. They are very easy to make by yourself. The problem with getting a TRUE fully auto reciever is that 90% of the time you will get screwed because the fed. gov. has a tight control on the ones that exist. Usually if you do get one it will be handmade poor quality. The real ones that the govt. has for AK-47 and AR-15's has a serial and tracking number micro engraved into the metal on the inside of the reciever where you cannot get to it to file it off unless you cut it apart with a torch and in that case if you go that far it will be useless anyway.
Let me know if you have any other questions as I have alot of experience assembling these weapons.
TweetI never knew that an SKS could even be made fully auto. It has an internal magazine that can only hold 5 so unless you modified it to take an AK clip (which has been done) fully auto would not last long! lol
I have heard of them firing fully auto because the firing pin gets jambed forward. Did you buy it modified? Post a picture if you can i have never seen anything but the standard semi-auto version. As you can tell I am into guns!
TweetThanks for the responsed guys! I'm prolly gonna pass on this one and do like Test said and just pick up a semi auto and play around with it myself. Damn sure don't want any knocks on my door.
