TweetLived in Chicago all of my 42 years. I do like it here except for winter. There is definitely a lot to do and the opportunities are beginning to grow again.. I wouldn't say that it is the highest cost of living here. As far as housing, you can still get something a lot more reasonable than years ago, but that too is slowly rising. Downtown Chicago is booming with fun things to do.

TweetI'm originally from the Portland/Vancouver area. If you can, live in Vancouver as it is cheaper and you don;t have the state income tax (close to 10% now). Oregon state is a broke ass state.. and how, don't know as they have super high property tax and the income tax. The amount of sales & property tax put together in Wa is still not as much as Oregon's.
Downtown Portland is the place to go for activity. Ther eis stuff to do in the surrounding areas, but seriously, downtown is the place to go. I like it way better than Seattle as everything is within walking distance. The clubs are hopping, the girls are hotties.. but pay attention, she may be a shemale in that town.. I shit you not!
Housing in Portland and the general area is pretty high.. again why "The 'Couve" is a better place to live. The 'Couve is right across the river in Washington state with some great areas... and as always, not so great, So if you decide to go.. let me know and I will tell you where to stay away from.
Peace,
X

weird weather, never gets cold enough in winter for winter, so alot of gray and slush for a week when it snows, in the summer, it's just plain assed humid as hell
alot of government around the cities, alot, people are very mixed because you get every type from around the world for government jobs
TweetBeen to LA on business a lot. I couldn't believe the cost of living. A $100k house here sells for 4-500k in LA and has no backyard at all.
They call you paranoid until the worst happens, and in the aftermath they will call you a hero.
TweetYeah cost of living seems to be a pain
im in Montreal and the cost of living is pretty cheap, a 500k house in LA is worth 100 here, a million dollar house is like a 10 million dollars house there. You see, but we are taxed on everything, 30% taxes, then with all the other taxes and everything your incomes is taxed at 75% God bless commie Quebec and to be honest, as a Sporting Goods executive here, not much future going around if I want to go up the scale. I was told last week to exile and go to the US where my experience would be appreciated.

TweetIt's not even worth going to work if you get taxed that much. In Texas we don't have a state income tax.

Well the cost of living, I know the cost for food and etc are cheaper in the US than here, just cars are like 10-20% cheaper. restaurant, housing is more expensive OK, good. utilities too, even with this, I'll do double the money.
