Tweet Republicans and Democrats in Congress found a compromise way Thursday night out of a deeply partisan standoff that threatened millions of Americans with a big New Year's tax increase, the unemployed with loss of government benefits and the whole federal government with a shutdown.

TweetSame scare tactics as last year, and it's running right up to the last minute again. The spending will not stop, and the debt will not be reduced. Thus, we the currency could go bust eventually via hyperinflation or high inflation. The average life of fiat currencies in history has been 40-50 years. Well, we have been completely off the gold standard for 40 years now, so it may be soon for ours as well. What makes our currency an exception. More than 3,800 fiat currencies have hyper inflated, I am sure there will be more to come. I hope things get better and the currency is restored but it doesn't look good. The dollar has depreciated 95% since 1971 when it was removed from a partial gold standard. That alone should tell us something. The only times in history that we have had inflation in the U.S. have been when coming off a gold or silver standard. Lincoln did it with the Greenbacks in 1861-1865, and had to go back to a gold backed standard. But from 1665 - 1776 there was no inflation whatsoever, and it was a gold standard. It's worth researching, very interesting. I wonder if we will be the one exception in all of history.
