TweetThe super committee is a joke and no meaningful cuts, if any at all, will ever come from it. I never expected any serious cuts anyway, and I have maintained that all along. Neither party is serious, which is why they enacted the automatic cuts to take effect if no deal is reached. This was the politicians attempt to try and force cuts since they don't have the integrity nor the bravery to openly vote for real spending cuts. Although I am not surprised at any of this, I am shocked at how pathetic the ruling elites truly are.

One thing that does tick me off with the super committee however is the fact that the American people don't seem to mind such a committee taking charge over Congress. It never occurs to people that the super committee is unconstitutional. Only Congress is permitted to legislate, not some group of thugs that have been hand selected, regardless of whether they are acting politicians. But what does the public know or care, most people probably haven't read the Constitution.

In regard to the proposed spending cuts, some aren't even actual cuts at all. For instance, the military spending cuts are actually only a reduction in next year's increase in military spending. It was supposed to increase next year by something like 23%, but they proposed only increasing it by 12% approximately (can't recall the exact numbers). So how do they call that a cut. This whole mess makes me sick. I am becoming more and more confident that our country will indeed go completely bankrupt, though for some reason most people don't think that is possible. Hopefully this country turns around in the next few years but I'm not very optimistic.
