"I gave the terrorists a second chance!"

You will never hear Bill Clinton say these words, but this whole week you will hear and read the best quote of the 2004 DNC Convention opening night, "strength and wisdom are not opposing values", spoken by a man who showed neither for eight years in the White House. The implication, of course, is that George W. Bush has shown strength without wisdom. Fill in your own favorite liberal mantra: "illegal war", "unilateral action", "mislead the American people" and the most baffling from none other than Al Gore, "misconceived foreign adventure", all of which have the sole purpose of convincing the American people that the Iraq war was a big, unnecessary mistake. After all, Sadam was contained and he wasn't a serious threat to anybody - oh, wait, not even the Democrats believed that as far back as 1998 when they made regime change in Iraq the official policy of the U.S. But you see, for liberals wisdom is only the ability to recognize a threat, which must be analyzed, studied, investigated, because as long as no action is taken there is no risk of looking foolish. And as for strength, it is to be exercised only when it weakens our national security. Just ask Jamie Gorelik how strong was the wall she erected between our intelligence agencies. I know the Cold War was over, the Soviet Union was not a threat anymore, but former President Clinton recognized the terror threat to our country back in 1993 when the terrorists tried to blow up the WTC Towers. Just go back and read his promises to punish those who perpetrated the crime. The only problem was that the terrorists had not intended to commit a crime, they had intended to commit mass murder by the tens of thousands, by blowing up one trade tower and toppling it against the other one thus bringing both down within seconds not the 20 to 30 minutes it took the towers to fall down in 2001. NO ONE WOULD HAVE GOTTEN OUT ALIVE. They did not succeed and that was enough for Bill Clinton to do nothing about it, effectively giving the terrorists a second chance.
It's funny how the media has selective amnesia. When the Berlin wall came down it was the policies implemented by Harry Truman fifty years earlier that finally worked, but when the Towers fell it was "What did Bush know and when did he know it?" not what did Clinton know, because that question had an answer. He knew the terrorists wanted to bring down the Towers back in 1993 and thanks to Bill's policies and wisdom they did, on 9/11. And this is what we should never forget.

Tweetif i'm understanding correctly....this is exactly what i don't understand....the democratic party keeps talking about G-Dub making such a bad move with the war and all but you don't see the republican party saying how Clinton screwed America by not taking more action when the first strike at the WTC happened....and maybe the republican party is saying stuff like that but i personally am not hearing it nearly as much as i am hearing the diss on Bush and his decision to take action

i am happy i live under a government that takes extreme action (although i don't feel the war has been extreme) then to live under a government that doesn't take enough action and in turn results in thousands of American's lives being lost to terrorists

TweetThat's the same thing as everything else. It's just like them to say one thing and do another. I know Bush has done some stuff that many people don't agree with but atleast he did what he said he would. I will follow a no nonsense do what he says he'll do guy all day before I follow some weak none conflict guy. Conflict builds character and Bush isn't affraid of conflict. I know there are some good Dems out there that wont take crap off anybody. But the Dem party likes to promote the no conflict guy. They sell you on "we will communicate with other countries" crap but the truth is some countries can't be communicated with. Some countries just need their ass kicked and/or thier heads pulled out of the ass. Bush is the guy for that job.

In my opinion, I feel the terrorist believed a Dem would be in office in 2001. I honestly think they were planning this around that. The last attack was when a Dem was in office and they know if another one was in office they would get away with it. I guarantee if Gore was in office Bin Laden will still be free to run around becasue we would have never retaliated. The terrorists were hoping for that situation. Instead they got Bush, but they were so involved they went forward anyway. Now, they are running through mountains and living in caves. I, for one, feel 10 times safer now knowing we went to Afganistan and Iraq. What Bush did weakend the terrorist so bad they will under watch by everyone now. Even their neighbors don't want us coming into their countries so they give us intel to capture or kill terrorists. The terror era will only end if you meet them head to head. Or foot to ass!

TweetIt is interesting how under JFK, the demo party's mantra used to be ask what you can do for your country. Today it's ask what your government is going to do for you. Party for the deadbeats -- we'll never be rid of poverty as long as color TVs are sold so cheap.

Last i checked Bin Laden is still free to run around, we never caught him. Instead we switched the war from afghanistan and Osama over to Iraq, even though Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11.

Maybe so, but i bet their glad Bush was elected now. Attacking Iraq, is doing nothing but uniting extremists and pushing more muslims towards terrorism.
