TweetI bought an AK about 15 years ago. Have never fired it...I was watching a show where they take an AK, throw it in the mud and stomp on it, then threw it in a lake and it still fired...lol
TweetSo, I have decided that I want an AK for my next gun. I don't know a lot about them. Any recommended forums and suggestions for which AK?

TweetYeah, they are very reliable, but they do lack accuracy compared to the ARs. I watched a video where the guy was stuffing the AK with a twinkie and then installing the magazine which was behind the twinkie. It fired every time no issues. Same test with an AR resulted in it firing once and then hanging up with no more shots fired.

TweetTry AR15.com and click on the AK-47 tab. Here's the link AR15.Com - Your Firearm Resource. (AR-15, AR-10, M4 Carbine, M16, H&K, SIG, FNH, FAL, AK-47, 50 Cal, M1/M1A, Handgun, Pistol, Training, Hunting, and More!)
Also you could check with horsepower. I am pretty sure he knows a lot about them.
I'd like to get one too some day soon. I have an AR15 and love it but haven't ever owned an AK.
Happy searching.

TweetI'll check that out for sure. I want to read up on them as much as possible before deciding what I want.
Somewhere I have talked with someone on here (may have been horsepower) and they told me another site and I can't find it for the life of me. So that's why I made another thread. It was a forum that I joined but can't remember what it was now.

Tweeti read alot about them look at the WASR AK. supposed to be a high quality rifle. make sure it will legally accept hi cap mags. many dont
i like them, they are fun. back in the early 90s you could get SKS's for $50-70 and AK47s for $110-200 brand new. i had 1 of each and sold them like a dummy
TweetThe AK's are still fairly cheap. I found a site yesterday ( can't remember it now that I try to) that had them for 299.00 just plain jane. And then they had the ones with pistol grips and folding stock for like 449.00.

Tweetthe local gun stores around here were that price.
Tweetcheck out these guys. great prices on most everything but a large selection of AKs Centerfire Systems - AK Firearms
TweetI have a Romainian AK. I love it! I bought mine off of Guns for Sale - Online Gun Auction - Buy Guns at GunBroker.com. It's like Ebay for guns. You just have to have it shipped to a gun dealer close to you. They will usually charge around $25 for this. As far as accuracy goes, unless you are a sniper this gun is more then accurate enough. It is not as accurate as an AR which I also have, but it is still good for a few hundred yards.
TweetAKs are fine weapons. i assume it is 7.62 X 39? i have an AR but want a AK too reAl bad. romanian AKs are good. tapco makes fine mags that have a life time warranty and are pretty cheap. get em now if obama is re-elected he will go after hi caps
TweetHope everyone that wanted an AK or AR got one. For now you are screwed. Prices are 2-3xs what they were just a couple months ago. There is major panic buying. The upside to that is if you have anything you dont like now is the time to unload it. Back to the OP, I have AKs for most major producers. Russian, Bulgaria, Polish, Romanian. I dont have anything from China or Yugo right now. They are all GTG. The Bulgarian stuff from Arsenal has alot better finish and apearance but as far as function they are all good. Some of the Rommys had some canted sights. If I could only have one it would be a Polish underfolder. Most AKs are incredibly durable but not near as acurate as the ARs.
Tweetcb1 hit it on the head.
they are all fun to bake brass out of , but the shelves are empty right now. gun shows are always my first stop but i live in a gun friendly state.
