the Christmas spirit came over me

Tweeti saw some kids playing in a front yard of a low income part of town house while out doing inspections yesterday. I always slow way down and keep an eye on the kids as they have a tendency to dart out on front of a car. these kids were trying to play soccer with a deflated soccer ball wrapped in duct tape.

so i went to walmart and bought a cheapo soccer ball for $10 on my lunch. got back and the kids were gone. i knocked on the door, no answer. (very few will answer the door for a gringo in a uniform with a badge even though i am no cop)

i saw the blinds move so I held the ball up. i heard shouting and the door unlocking and a voice screaming something in spanish. the door opened and two of the little boys were standing there wide eyed. i handed them the ball and they tried to hand it back saying they can't pay for it. I said "merry Christmas, it's a gift" the granny waddled up to the door and was shouting in Spanish and the kids tried to give it back again reluctantly. I know very little Spanish so I said "esta gratis, es para Navidad ok" I think that means "it's free for Christmas ok". everybody knows "ok"

the kids looked at granny and she shrugged and said "ok". the kids thanked me all the way to my truck. tore the ball out of the box and all 4 started playing.

see, i can be nice every once in a while. maybe i will get some good Karma to balance out all the nasty shit I do.

TweetIt feels great helping others right? The route i take to work there are bums that stand out on the street corners around the wealthy business district of tampa, i never give to those people. If i see someone not asking but i can see needs it ill help someone out ya know..
