Jardine interview: I want to prove myself
Quote:
“The Dean of Mean” Keith Jardine has already dished out a beating to Chuck Liddell, and now he is gunning for legend number two Wanderlei Silva at “UFC 84: ILL WILL.”
Jardine stunned the MMA world when he convincingly beat Liddell by split points decision back in September, knocking the former champ down in the process.
Liddell has since said he wasn’t feeling sharp that night, and so Jardine must now prove himself again against another UFC icon Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva.
The kickboxing expert feels he has never received the respect he is due for a career that has seen him beat Liddell, Forrest Griffin and Wilson Gouveia, but he intends to change that in Las Vegas.
“I want to prove to everybody what I’m all about. I’ve had a couple of fights and people have questioned how good I am,” said Jardine.
“Now I want to make my place in MMA history by beating not one but two of the icons of the sport.
“I’m expecting to fight “The Axe Murderer”. The guy we haven’t seen in a while. The aggressive one who fights across the ring throwing his haymakers.”
Should Jardine beat Silva he would surely deserve his crack of the whip at the UFC light-heavyweight title, having already beaten Liddell – the man who lost the belt to current king Rampage Jackson.
Liddell has since marked his own return to form in one of THE fights of UFC history – beating Silva, but Jardine reads nothing into the fact that his last victory came against the guy who delivered Silva’s last loss.
“Chuck beating Wanderlei doesn’t give me any extra confidence for this fight. The styles match up weird in this sport.
“We haven’t seen how my style matches up against Wanderlei.
“What I can’t wait for is being in the middle of the second or third round, being sweaty, bloody, tired, just me and him – seeing who the bigger man is on the day.
“All the press interviews, all the pre-fight, it’s all garbage. I’m just here to get to the middle of the second round and you’re surviving on guts and instinct. That’s what we live for as fighters.”
I know I will get flamed for this, but I just don't think this year is going to be good to Jardine. I think he will begin his downslide with the Wandy fight. I could be wrong, but that is just what I think.
Re: Jardine interview: I want to prove myself
JARDINE WILL LOSE. HE GOT LUCKY WITH CHUCK. CHUCK TOOK HIM TO LIGHTLY THATS IT EVERYONE KNOWS THAT.I SAY THIS DOESNT GO PAST THE 2ND ROUND WANDERLEI WINNING
Re: Jardine interview: I want to prove myself
I think the exact same thing. But when I say that on the other boards, I get into arguments.

Re: Jardine interview: I want to prove myself
Jardine will not stand a chance against Silva, but I also thought silva would beat Liddel.
Re: Jardine interview: I want to prove myself
I WAS THINKING SILVA WOULD KILL CHUCK TOO...THAT WAS A GOOD FIGHT
Re: Jardine interview: I want to prove myself
See i don't think chuck took him too lightly (at least not the main reason he lost). i think his training needs or needed a kick in the a$$. jardine hit him with the same focking combo over and over and over, the jab, cross, roundhouse to the thigh. after the first nine or ten a fighter of chuck's caliber will normally figure out a way to negate that and find a way to win. he was out of it mentally before he got in the ring, burnout, mental crap due to injury, etc so i don't think jardine even gets that much credit for beating chuck. now the axe murderer i believe will knock jardine the fock out. i think silva hits harder than houston does and he made jardine look focking stupid by KO'ing him before the 1st round was half over. silva should maul his goofy looking a$$. homeboy has such a goofy, awkward style though that it might take silva a round or two to figure him out.
Re: Jardine interview: I want to prove myself
The biggest thing I see is movement. Chuck has some pretty descent foot work that screwed Wandy's timing up on some of his strikes. Jardine moves like a California Red Wood and will be an easier target for his knees....I also think that Jardine gets KOd and in a big way!!! Not to mention that Wandy has something to prove coming off 3 losses in a row.

I agree! Wandy is hungry for a win. Jardine should get a re-match with Houston Alexander.
Re: Jardine interview: I want to prove myself
I really think that Jardine will beat Alexander if they were to fight again. As much as I don't like Jardine, he is alot better than Alexander.
Re: Jardine interview: I want to prove myself
Well, that went like I had planned. Jardine suffers yet another loss in under 40 seconds....now why is he in the top 5????
