12 hour work days
Those of you who are either in the trades or simply have longer shifts how do you manage?
I took a job that is tue-fri 4x10s, but 8 months of the years is either 50hour a week or 60 per week which is then 5x12 leaving only 2 days a week I can do anything except commute work, sleep...23 hour to start and raises every6 months capping currentlyat 34/hr in 36 months...not all money is good money but I remind myselfI can't get things I want in life without more sacrifice either...let's here how some if you manage your schedules
Right now with commuting I can't do anything on 12 hour shift days leaving only 2 days a week to lift

Re: 12 hour work days
I work 6 days 48 hours a week. It’s 5am- 1pm so I have all afternoon to do what I want. I always hit the gym right after work. If I don’t, it’s hard getting me out of the house lol

Re: 12 hour work days
I'm gonna have to lift 3 days on 4 off being end of workday Friday, then Saturday and Sunday with a push/pull/legs split and no more partying hard on weekends...this is actually needed...I've been excessive with my blow and molly use the last few years and need to save it all for special occasions not just because I have cash any day or the weekend...before judging my personal choice for a vice, I don't drink or smoke, no prescription pills,, and no thc gummies either

Re: 12 hour work days
I work 10-12 hours a day Monday through Friday. (Sometimes Saturday) Usually start at 8am and work until 6-8pm. I'm usually good with the 10 hours days, but when we hit those 12 hours, it sucks everything I have out of me. Crazy how two hours makes that much difference. I have about an hour commute to and from work, so factor that traffic jam of a drive twice a day and I'm looking at being gone 12-14 hours a day. After the work day, then the gym and anything else I have to do (cooking etc...) I end up getting about 5-6 hours of sleep each night. I'm always off on Sundays and thank goodness usually have Saturdays off to catch up a little.

Re: 12 hour work days
I'd definitely fall asleep at the wheel...in bed 8 hours I might get 4-5 hours of sleeps as it is...I cant stay asleep enough and it's a big problem for me...the drive into work is more dangerous than home though as far as that's concerned

Re: 12 hour work days
gotta get that sleep.. 7hrs a night for me mandatory to function right.. wish i could do 5 or 6 but each of us require different levels.. then again im almost 50 .. things will slow down by the end of 2022 im betting with all the govt money being exhausted by that time. then life will hopefully normalize for alot of us. i miss the hell out of daily training but love the hell out of my savings.. guess priorities are diffrenet for me today as retirement is slowly creeping up.

Re: 12 hour work days
I have done my share of 10 and 12 hour shifts, especially on the graveyard shift and it has taken a good bit out of me as I did nothing but sleep in between. The 3 days off were at least helpful though.
