Howdy
Been ages since I belonged to a forum like this. I'm 52 now. Two years ago I had three heart attacks and a triple bypass with some post I'm complications that left me couch ridden for eighteen months. I've never been more depressed in my life. My wife stepped up and got a job which has kept as afloat but I felt completely worthless.
Fast forward. Four months ago my wife tells me she's saved enough of her overtime to allow me to join the local Golds. I was dumbstruck. I'm not ashamed to say it nearly brought me to tears.
I walked into the gym at 311 at 5'9", 42.2% body fat. Today, after almost four months, I'm at 277, 29.8% body fat. But its such a battle. After nearly six years off I feel like I'm starting at square one. Where I struggle most is motivation. I keep doing the "I used to be..." thing and I hate that. So I'm hoping by joining a site like this I can build a group of friends who'd hold me accountable and maybe push me through the rough days.
Thanks for the read.
Mike.

That is incredible progress bro. Keep up that work and look forward to seeing you get down to 25% BF next. Set that as a goal and let us know how it goes.

Re: Howdy
Great progress so far man, you got this! Motivation can be the hardest part sometimes. You just gotta set those goals, get in there, kick ass and take names until you achieve them. Stay focused and keep your eyes on the end result. It's a lifestyle and certainly won't happen overnight, so don't let yourself get discouraged. Remember, it's not just what you do in the gym, but also what you do out of the gym.
Something you can do for accountability is start a log here on the board posting up your workouts and training as you go. It'd be a great way to stay motivated and keep yourself accountable. I'll definitely follow it and throw some ideas and suggestions at you as you go.
Welcome aboard bro.

Re: Howdy
Sorry I haven't been around despite the warm welcome. I kept trying to access this place via my phone and tablet. I finally broke down and dug out my old laptop. Maybe now I can post some pics!
