I love powerlifting. Never got serious with it, competed, or anything. Never really was super strong either lol, just loved lifting heavy. There's just something so satisfying about that feeling after heavy deadlifts and squats. It gets harder to recover after heavy lifts now as I get older, but still love it.
not in well over 20 years. i love reading the stuff and science behind the training though. their are some great programs and templates on elitefts from some of the top guys in the sport though. i am using a 5x5 template to train my son for football and wrestling right now that i got off of there.
I am with you guns. not in 20 years. Back surgery and misc. injuries dictate light lifts. I still love watching it on YT and hearing about guys who do it. But no more for me.
I hear you guys. I don’t powerlift, bit I do love to do heavy bench and deadlifts. It is definitely a great feeling. I’m more into endurance training now tho. As you guys, my age dictates no more super heavy lifting
Dorian Yates said super heavy lifting has no benefit in BB. Just raises your chances of getting injured. Some guys are built for power, others like me are NOT!
Powerlifting has been my life for over 40 years. I love to lift heavy. As far as workouts, I try and follow Westside Barbell training protocol. I train four times a week. Two dynamic (speed days) and two max effort days. All workouts are about one hour sometimes more. You have to remember that your placing a lot of stress on your muscular system and your nervous system so rest and eating properly is key. My workouts are always changing with reps, sets and exercise. hope this helps.
Been lifting for years. But became a member of Team Mendy in 2012, whereas I competed in a couple of meets (including Ca. State Championship) with the APF.
