got to get this under contro
Since my back surgery and my retirement things has spiraled down for me. All my ailments are muscle, joint, or tendon related.
I am just to sedentary.
Do I hurt because I am sedentary or am I sedentary?
What ever the answer I have to make a change NOW
How much vigorous activity do I need each day?
Re: got to get this under contro
Man I’d start with just walking everyday and go from there. Hopefully you will get back on track soon.

I was gonna say the same thing. Gotta find ways to move and exert. Even if its just a little at first

Movement is life and if you can move, you can heal yourself.
"Your body has a remarkable capacity to begin healing itself if you give it a chance to do so-and QUICKLY. "

Brother, just walking would be beneficial to start. A brisk walk will help get blood flowing and loosen muscles. Also take a magnesium supp (400 mg ed with food) and stretch morning and night for 10 minutes each. Doing this without fail every day has reduced my body pain by 80%.
When you feel better hit the gym and start lifting again. Once sedentary for just a few weeks or even shorter periods of time your muscles will "lock up" causing pain.
Just my $.02, take it for what it is worth but it changed my life for the better.

I found strength training is not enough. I love it but I think the walking thing is good too. Thanks guys
Re: got to get this under contro
I've been including a lot more walking into my routine as I've gotten older. I used to just be gym, cardio, done. More recently I've thrown in some extra walking and bike riding and it has made a world of difference. Just the extra little bit of movement helps.

Re: got to get this under contro
dw have you tried a teeter, one of those you lay on upside down, as a fire fighter EMT, i lift a lot of heavy people threw out my career, and i use one when i have severe back pain and it seems to help out a lot UNTIL i have a call and have to carry a 600lb person out of their house again.
