Does anyone else do a 1 rep max. I do this about once a week on my lifts. I try to do as many as I can with a spotter. WHY?
To me this is good indicator of strength gained. When I can do 4 or more I move up in weight about 10 #.

Good stuff!
I really don’t do 1 Rep Maxes, but what I try to do is up the weight in just about every lift I do , on a weekly basis.
That’s the way I can tell whether or not I’m getting stronger .
On bench I’m currently hitting 295lbs for 6 clean reps. That’s pretty good for me as my elbow really fucks with me , but I’m def getting stronger.
I think every lifter should either do 1 Rep maxes or something to determine if they’re getting stronger or if they’ve hit a plateau.
I see SO many dudes at the gym do the same crap day in and day out , looking the same , like what the hell for ???
Isn’t the whole idea of training to look better , different !!!
IDK , clowns !!!
Well they’re not all clowns, but a lot of them are !!
I also follow the same routine . And targets one rep max regime once a week.
I used to but now i am too likely to get hurt. Wish I could.
Keep it up brother.
i havent done a 1rm in probably close to 20 years. since bodybuilding and appearance is my ultimate goal the risk isnt worth the reward. if i feel good and the weight moves easily then i move up. if i fail then i dont. i am a merticulous log book keeper, so i make improvements when i can and i try not to go backwards at no point. i can also see when something is off and when changes need to be made
good point
I used to do it all the time. Now I can still do it but age has creeped in and I will either be very sore or hurt myself.
I also used to hit my 1 rep max here and there back in the day, but haven't in a long time. After hernia surgery I think my maxing out days are mostly behind me, but I'd still like to feel that weight again.
I do a 600-625 lb single in the deadlift about once a month. I did a 500 squat last year but aint done that in a while. I might be able to single 225 in the bench if Im lucky, my rotator cuff is just not up to benching anymore.
I think singles are great if you can handle it
Take care of yourself
I do them about once a month or so...depending how I feel
