Re: When your parents die
"Thanks" dzone. Reflection is bittersweet. Grateful to have you here
Re: When your parents die
i havent seen my brother or parents in probably 5 or more years. i rarely talk to my parents since they are raising my brother's children now. some people never grow up and some people's parents continue to allow them to be a burden on society
Re: When your parents die
both of my parents are still alive. i talk to my mom a couple times a month. my dad i dont speak with much at all. he made a choice many years ago to pick drinking over his family. he got into trouble years ago and i went and bailed him out. he's not all there in the head has mental health issues.. my brother and my mom didnt agree with me doing anything for him. i told them he's still my father..

That's so f#ing heart breaking Dzone. I'm pretty choked up after reading that, I'm so sorry to hear that ! My dad wad murdered in a robbery when I was 16. I have sorta a step Dad who's dying from cancer, everyday I'm just waiting for that phone call from my Mom. Shes 75 and takes care of him. I've been coming home to an empty house for years now, I can't begin to imagine what it's going to be like when I lose my Mom. Blessed Be Brother D.

Thats a lot to be dealing with too. My biological dad killed himself when I was 16. My step dad who raised me died way before I was ready for it. He was abusive when I was growing up but changed when I grew up but we weren't close. I always imagined showing him the land I was going to build on and him being proud of me. It hit me like a ton of bricks when he suddenly died of a pulmonary embolism about 8 years ago. Now my mom and I have always been very close and she has recently been diagnosed with Dementia of Lewy Bodies. It took forever to get that diagnosis. It has been an unreal horror. It will only get worse.
We spend a lifetime preparing to lose our parents but there is nothing that can prepare us.

Damn brother. That put a lump in my throat. My folks are 80. They are in pretty good health. But they have a little trouble getting around.
